Will Digg.com be sold in 2007?
I’m beginning to agree that Digg just might be looking to sell out. I’ve been heading towards this agreement for a few months now, but never really reached the point where I thought it would really happen until now.
I’ve posted about issues with Digg in the past and I’ve read through countless posts about Digg. As pointed out by Tech Spews, Digg has done nothing to stop the Bury Brigade from prevailing in knocking certain stories out of the ladder.
It makes sense really. Digg can avoid a lot of heart ache by keeping peace within the community because no one wants to buy a broken idea. Right now they have a site with a LOT of traffic and they know full well that in its current state they can get quite wealthy. but if a civil war breaks out on Digg they know they’ll have serious PR problems.
Personally, I think the site needs to go through this. Digg should just stop the bury crap. That is, if indeed they are doing it, or at even allowing it to happen. Digg is a big community and I believe it needs to have its growing phase before it can get any bigger. It’s natural, and in the end probably healthy for the site.
It is also my opinion that once it plays out Digg will still be worth a ton of money. Maybe Digg just doesn’t agree.
Will Digg be sold sometime this year? I think it’s a big possibility.
Anyone else agree?
