Who is Ron Paul?

LeftWho the hell is Ron Paul? It’s a question that can be heard across the web and beyond. I’ve seen countless threads on discussion forums started by users begging to know more. I myself have even been on the hunt for solid information on the Texas Libertarian.

So begins my hunt for information on Ron Paul. I’ve compiled a good starting list and I’m listing his basic stances. From what I’ve found so far his voting record is superb and matches his beliefs and promises.

References:
-The Ron Paul wikipedia page contains a wealth of info. Users seem to be quite active in keeping it up to date.

-Ron Paul’s official campaign website needs some serious design help. It’s pretty terrible to be quite honest. But still, it’s a good place to get info on the Libertarian Congressman.

-His official Congress website is just like any other. General yet still informative.

-I hate Myspace, but apparently Paul doesn’t.

-A healthy archive of his speeches and writings can be found here.

-A blog that follows Ron Paul can be found here.

His basic beliefs are as follows:

Debt and Taxes
Working Americans like lower taxes. So do I. Lower taxes benefit all of us, creating jobs and allowing us to make more decisions for ourselves about our lives. (more…)

American Independence and Sovereignty

So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. (more…)

War and Foreign Policy

The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. (more…)

Border Security and Immigration Reform

The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan: (more…)

Privacy and Personal Liberty
The biggest threat to your privacy is the government. We must drastically limit the ability of government to collect and store data regarding citizens’ personal matters. (more…)

Property Rights and Eminent Domain

We must stop special interests from violating property rights and literally driving families from their homes, farms and ranches. (more…)

Granted, there will be a lot more info added to the web in the coming months, but I think this is a good place to start. Hope this helps!

Have another link? Let me know.

I will vote republican in 2008 IF Ron Paul wins the nomination. Otherwise, I will vote for the third party of my choice, most probably libertarian. Ron Paul may be our last chance to regain our republic.

Eric, Paul’s congressional website is actually a wealth of information. Read his Texas straight talk and congressional statements and speeches they are listed on his website. You will see his positions in detail there.

Also search youtube for “Ron Paul” many of his speeches are there. An excellent starting place is his apeech entitled “NEO-CONNED”

Randy, thanks for the heads up! Link has been fixed.

Janet, I am only barely hanging on to my Republican credentials. If 2008 doesn’t yield any changes in the GOP, I’m switching my voter registration. The same can be said for MANY Republicans these days.

Philly, thanks for the links. Let me know if you come across any more. I plan on doing a weekly Ron Paul post once I get a little more time.
