More About Eric Odom
The more time I spend online, the more I realize the importance of building an online profile, including information on my networks, hang outs, and social networking/bookmarking profiles. It’s a lot of work, but it’s starting pay off.
Here’s a little about me and what I do.
I’m a grassroots internet activist and consultant who currently operates ConservaBlogs.com and ConservaNetwork.com, projects of Citizen Outreach. I serve as “Director of Internet Operations” for Citizen Outreach, a firm located in Washington, DC. I also have the privilege of of being noted as Conference Director for the 2007 Conservative Leadership Conference in Reno, Nevada.
With the exception of a few crash course classes in community college, my education stopped at the high school level. When I left high school I traveled the world, eventually settling down to start a business.
At 23, I started a window cleaning business called “All Washed Up.” The business was a hit, but wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do. I then went to work for a major US Bank. It wasn’t what I wanted to do either, but it allowed me to begin dabbling in web design and marketing.
My first website was called “Backpacker Deals”, and was geared towards student travelers heading to Europe. I’ll be honest, it was a complete wreck. I had no idea what I was doing and it showed.
But as the years went by I began grasping the idea of how this great big web works, and it has allowed me to move things into a whole new level.
I’ve always had a passion for politics. I’m very aggressive when it comes to getting things done politically, and the internet allows me to leap over most in this realm.
In 2006 my internet operations included more than 30 websites/blogs. I also built and maintained a website for a city council race, a city mayor race, two state legislature races, a political action committee, and several local party websites across three states.
In December of 2006 I launched www.conservablogs.com, a free Wordpress blog hosting service that now plays home to more than 50 bloggers. In less than four months online we were pushed into the top 7,000 with Technorati and our fourth month is shaping up to hit about 40,000 visits across the network. This isn’t huge traffic by any means, but it’s pretty damn good for being new to the scene.
As far as political experience goes, I’m a graduate of the Leadership Institute’s “Campaign Leadership School” and “Candidate Development School” and I’ve worked as a political consultant on congressional, state and local campaigns in Northern Nevada. I’m also the founder of the Nevada Independent Conservative PAC (NICPAC).
Hopefully after reading all that you have a better understanding of who I am.
You can also catch me at Digg, Netscape (I don’t hang out over there much), Technorati, and MyBlogLog.
Happy Blogging!
