Conservative Movement Heats Up With Premier Western Conference

CLCReno, NV - In October of 2007 thousands of Conservatives looking to organize and network on a scale that has yet to be seen will meet in Reno, Nevada for the first annual Conservative Leadership Conference ( www.clc07.com ).

Invited speakers include Newt Gingrich, Michelle Malkin, Hugh Hewitt and Morton Blackwell just to name a few. Grover Norquist, founder of Americans for Tax Reform ( www.atr.org ) in DC, has signed his organization on as a co-sponsor of the event. Presidential hopefuls will be given an opportunity to speak in front of extensive traditional and new media coverage.

As dissatisfaction within the Conservative ranks begins to reach record levels, the timing of the largest event of its kind in the West couldn’t be better. With Nevada being a key swing state, the location is ideal as well.

The 2000 bloggers now have a face

A few days back I posted about my glorious addition to the official 2000 bloggers list and linked to the official page. But, a few days have gone by and I’m getting links from hundreds of blogs because of it. So I figured I should hand out some link love in return.

Thanks for the links everyone!

Technorati gives link juice to homepage of blog networks for inbound links to sub pages

The last month has been a wild ride for ConservaBlogs.com. We now host more than 50 blogs and have only been up and running for less than 8 weeks. Not bad for a guy who has spent $0.00 advertising dollars and very little time marketing the product right?

On top of the success we’re having with traffic and bloggers, our Technorati rank seems to quickly be on the rise. In fact, I’ve been quite stunned with how fast we’ve moved into the top 20,000 blogs. I’m really not sure what this means for us because it appears as though even the top 10,000 means virtually nothing as far as extra traffic. But considering the fact that Technorati tracks millions upon millions of blogs and we’re in the top 20,000 I think we’re doing well.

But how did we get there so fast? Just 6 weeks?

Oddly enough, our homepage URL, www.conservablogs.com, is getting credit for links coming in to blogs on sub-domains. When you look at the link list for ConservaBlogs on Technorati, you’ll find that a majority of the links are pointing at sub-domains or blogs on sub pages, yet the homepage still gets credit.

Most of our bloggers have their blogs claimed with Technorati, so it’s easy for us to compare the links and see that they line up to an exact number. For example, Publius Forum, one of our most active bloggers, recently moved from blogger to ConservaBlogs. When he contacted all of his link partners or bloggers who had him in their blogrolls to change the URL, both his new blog AND the homepage of our site got credit for the links.

So it’s clear that blog hosts and networks are going to do quite a bit better as far as rank with Technorati. Or at least, they’ll be able to move up the rank ladder much quicker than any normal, stand alone blog.

Interesting. Interesting indeed.

ConservaBlogs Basics

Bloggers from all walks of life are finding ConservaBlogs.com to be the perfect fit for a blogging home. We offer free Wordpress hosting with virtually unlimited space for posting, file hosting, and bandwidth is something we’ll continue to pump into the system as we grow. With this in mind, it’s no wonder so many folks are getting comfortable here at ConservaBlogs.com.

Now that we’re coming out of beta we’re starting to see many levels of internet skills here on our servers. Some bloggers have been doing this for years and in turn have learned the ropes of the seemingly complex code structure of Wordpress. Others are just getting started and the whole thing could be seen as a tad bit overwhelming.

If you’re new to blogging, or have never used Wordpress before, this post will be an excellent starting point to help you properly launch your blog and get off to a great start.

We’ll start with the basics.

First, when you apply for a blog here at ConservaBlogs.com, our team has to go in and manually install the software to the server. Once your blog is set up and can be found on the internet, you’ll find that everything is set to the default settings and it might temporarily seem a little messy. Fear not my friends, we’re going to walk you through it step by step.

Blogger Import Problem

Earlier today it was discovered by one of our bloggers that Wordpress is having issues importing from blogger. Publius Forum attempted an import from his Blogger blog and it looks like Blogger has server issues that cause timeouts when uploading post content into Wordpress. When the posts that did make it to Wordpress finally came in, the archives were completely wrecked and posts were stuffed into months and dates that were not at all anywhere close to accurate.

I haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem, but from what I can find it looks like an XML/Wordpress Script/Blogger Server combination that somehow isn’t working together during the import. I found a comment in Wordpress support that said if you disable your XML/Feed in Blogger before the import you’ll have more luck.

Hang on a tick…

I know my blog layout is currently having issues, but please know it’s only because I just got set up and still need to make time to get the template all cleaned up.

I hope to be running at 100% by Christmas Eve. I’ll be posting some between now and then, but the overall blog layout may be a bit messy.

In time…
