Chatting with Iran and Syria

Why on earth do we keep bombing the Iraquois ?? Haven’t those poor people suffered enough at the hands of the US for the past 200 years ?? — Unknown

The Iraq Study Group Report, Democrats such as Wesley Clark, and even Representative Ron Paul (who I have alot of respect for) advise that the US should “talk” to Syria and Iran “in order to try to obtain their commitment to constructive policies toward Iraq and other regional issues.”

Although I believe that “talking” to regimes run by gangsters and lunatics has little chance of success, I have no problem with “talking” to the likes of Syria and Iran.

“Talking” is not the concern. The concern is WHO we send to do the talking. Sending a “John Bolton” or a “Ronald Reagan” who clearly understand the nature of evil would make the effort worthwhile.

Unfortunately, I doubt that’s the type of individuals the Democrats have in mind. They want us to send someone like Jimmy Carter or Phil Donahue (which would ensure the US gets taken to the cleaners once again like we did when Jimmy Carter “talked” to North Korea in 1994).

If THAT’S going to be the plan, then my thoughts are “Silence is Golden.”
