[...] One of my favorite Conservabloggers, Smitty at Laissez-Faire, has a great post on the wayward path the GOP has taken over the last decade and the price they’re paying for it today. Titled ‘I Tip My Hat to Chuck Muth’ and subtitled ‘But I Fired the Stupid Party in 2006′, Smitty offers his evaluation of how the GOP has governed during the Bush Administration as compared to the Clinton years. Topics covered include Taxes, Education, Tort Reform, Spending and more. [...]

He opens up his post, … over the years, I’ve become SICK of Republicans pissing on true conservatives and telling them it’s raining. The fact of the matter is that conservative ideals and principles (as a whole) fared no better (at best) under George Bush than under Bill Clinton. THAT is absolutely intolerable; the Repubs controlled the House, Senate AND Presidency for the first time in 50 years and allowed themselves to become drunk with power. When I compare how our ideals fared as a principled minority party when Clinton was in power (being a burr under Clintons saddle) vs. how we did with Repubs controlling everything, I saw: [...]

Jeez Smitty!

Why don't you tell us how you really feel??!!

Great post. I especially like the comparison and issues rundown. It helps one to remember exactly what government is doing and has done as opposed to merely remembering what they promised.

I, too, am fed up with the GOP. I've heard all the arguments that giving the Dems power by sitting out the election is bad because then the Dems will wield power. My response has always been what you've posted about here.

If the GOP can show me how the country is different and better under their leadership than the Left's, I'll consider voting for them again. But as long as the GOP is indistinguishable from the Jackasses, what difference does it make how I vote?

Thus, I'll sit it out unless and until the GOP puts up a Conservative candidate. You'd think it'd be a no-brainer for them but you'd be wrong!

Thanks again for the great post. I think this one will make the Carnival.
