I Believe ….. I Don’t Believe ……

“Believe me, Germany is unable to wage war.”

– British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, 1934

*************************

- I believe that the total intelligence on the planet earth is constant. Unfortunately the population is increasing

- I don’t believe Americans have a constitutional right to chat with terrorists

- I believe our foreign and domestic policy should largely be based on the “Bizarro Jimmy Carter” model. That is, when Jimmy Carter says the US should do something, we should immediately do the 180 degree opposite as rapidly as possible

- I don’t believe that “clerics” who advocate mass murder are “holy men” any more than Heinrich Himmler was

- I believe that 90% of all liberals don’t give a f*** about “the troops.” Their phony concern for the troops only surfaces when it can be used to score political points

- I don’t believe that WMD’s in the hand of North Korea are nearly the threat that they are in the hands of Iran. Kim Jong-il is evil but he’s not a madman. He values his life and knows that his country will be turned into a parking lot if his WMD’s are used or turned over to our enemies. On the other hand, the lunatic running Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (pronounced “I’m a nut job”) welcomes Armageddon

- I believe that Gitmo should be expanded, not closed down. And all captives should immediately be given a shave and haircut upon admission. Any irresponsible congressmen advocating the closing of Gitmo should be willing to welcome these fine gentlemen into their congressional district

- I don’t believe that George Bush is a conservative

- I believe that both Ann Coulter and Howard Dean represent the far-right and the far-left of their respective parties. But the fact that one is merely a pundit while the other runs a party speaks volumes

- I don’t believe that the MN Vikings will ever win a Super Bowl

- I believe that some global warming is probably occurring. But I also believe that mankind has little to do with it and cannot make a serious dent in it without returning to the stone age

- I don’t believe that the US should get involved in the nation-building business ever again. We’re lousy at it and the ingrates we help won’t lift a finger to assist or offer thanks

- I believe the removing Saddam had to be done. But after that we should have simply garrisoned enough of our troops and air power to ensure the Baath Party didn’t return to power, and let the Iraqi people largely determine their own destiny. If they decide to act like adults and desire a free society, we offer our support. If they instead decide to act like savages, then we stand back and watch then slaughter each other

- I don’t believe that anyone should take the recent rants of Jimmy Carter seriously. His “opinions” are bordering on irrational. It’s time for him to go back to the only things he’s proven successful at: buddying up to his friends (Michael Moore, assorted dictators, and various terrorist groups), and enabling anti-semitism and genocide. He should leave domestic and foreign policy to rational adults

- I believe that John Bolton may have been the one true conservative in the Bush Administration. The fact that both the French and the Democrats hated him should have been considered the ultimate endorsement. Instead he was pushed out the door

- I don’t believe that the US will get serious about the War against Islamicfascism (see
http://conservablogs.com/Laissez-faire/2007/02/21/if-were-going-to-be-infidels-then-lets-get-serious/)
until a US city is incinerated and millions of our citizens are toast. Even that may not be enough

- I believe that the Republican Party will do triple-back flips time and time again to prove that it is the Stupid Party

- I don’t believe that entitlement spending will be addressed without term limits and a bipartisan commission to provide political cover. Cowardess rules both parties

- I believe that the Democratic Party will do triple-back flips time and time again to prove that it is the Evil Party

- I don’t believe that the civilized world has the moral courage to stop Iran from obtaining WMD’s

- I believe that whoever advocated giving copies of the Koran to the vermin in Gitmo should have been fired

- I don’t believe that Rev Jerry Falwell was great man and I don’t believe that he was an evil man. I disagreed with most of what he said. But he was far more honorable that either the Rev Jesse Jackson or the Rev Al Sharpton

- I believe that we should either take the gloves off or get the hell our of Iraq
http://conservablogs.com/Laissez-faire/2007/02/21/if-were-going-to-be-infidels-then-lets-get-serious/

- I don’t believe that Hillary has spoken a single sincere sentence in over 10 years

- I believe the scientific evidence for evolution is self-evident and rock-solid for anyone with a logical and open mind. Therefore, it would be very difficult for me to vote for Brownback, Huckabee, or Tancredo. I would be concerned with their ability to make a sound decision based on logic and not on preconceived beliefs.

- I believe I’ll have another beer

[…] As always, Smitty at Laissez-Faire can be counted on to make serious points in a light hearted way that makes you grin but forces you to think at the same time. His post, ‘I believe … I don’t believe …’ is a rapid fire recitation of his opinions on a variety of topics from sports and science to politics and personalities. It is a must read if for no other reason than to find nuggets like this … I believe in a “Bizarro Jimmy Carter Foreign Policy.” That is, when Jimmy Carter says the US should do something, we should immediately do the 180 degree opposite as rapidly as possible.
