Another Reason Not to Elect the Crazy War-Monger President
August 13th, 2008 Posted in Foreign Policy, International, War, Campaign 2008, John McCain, Military Policy, Russia, GeorgiaSen. John McCain is just nutty on foreign policy. He seems to have adopted the authoritarian demagogue Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia as his bosom buddy. The Senator who wanted a ground war against Serbia to save Kosovo doesn’t give one flip about the South Ossetians killed by Georgia, in an offensive ordered by his bosom buddy Saakashvili. And he wants the U.S. to confront Russia for doing essentially what we did to Serbia–blast away at a country attempting to suppress secessionists.
If he was prepared to create a little mercenary group, including his chief foreign policy adviser who was a paid lobbyists for Georgia, and head over to battle the Russians, that would be fine. But he wants to carry us all along. Reports the Washington Post:
McCain told the audience that Saakashvili “knows that the thoughts and prayers and support of the American people are with that brave little nation as they struggle today for their freedom and independence. He wanted me to say thank you, to give you his heartfelt thanks for the support of the American people.”
McCain said he told him “that I know I speak for every American when I say to him today, we are all Georgians.”
Actually, John, I am not a Georgian. I don’t like folks who initiate hostilities and kill innocent people. And I especially don’t like people who do that expecting aid and support from America.
Just imagine if Georgia was part of NATO. Then Saakashvili would try any stunt he’d like, with the full expectation that the U.S. and Europe would go to war on his behalf, no matter how many South Ossetians (and Abkhazians, the residents of a second autonomous territory) his forces killed. Boy, that’s a good cause for America to take on nuclear-armed Russia!
The more one hears John McCain talk, the more frightening is the prospect of him being president.

Doug, do you plan on voting for Obama?
I’ve been planning on sitting this election out, but these developments w/ Georgia and Russia remind just how bat-sh** crazy McCain is, and nudge me a little more closer to doing the unthinkable-voting Democrat.

I’ll be voting for Bob Barr, but I would choose Obama over McCain. McCain really is a nut case on foreign policy. War with Iran would be bad enough. But war with Russia?? Egads!
