Promoting freedom in an unfree world.

Paul Weyrich, R.I.P.

December 18th, 2008 Posted in Conservatives, RIP

Apparently Paul Weyrich died this morning.  Paul, the first head of the Heritage Foundation, founder of the Free Congress Foundation, and indefatigable conservative activist, was friend and colleague.  While we disagreed on some issues–his conservatism tended more towards the social, while mine moved in a libertarian direction–he was a fine gentleman who did much to promote individual liberty and limited government.  We have lost a good man.  Condolences to his family and many, many friends.

This marks the passing of an era. I will forever be grateful, professionally and personally — as the conservative movement should be — for his devotion and his willingness to fight and fight smart.
