Fred Thompson - John McCain?
29 March 20077.62MM Justice, a blogger who I’ve followed for quite some time now, seems to think that Fred Thompson may be considering teaming up with RINO candidate John McCain.
Let Jane connect some dots for you. The buzz in my home state of South Carolina is that Lindsey Graham has become unfit for service to harvest the true Conservative vote in the South with that whole Gang of Fourteen mess and will not even be re-elected to his Senate seat. He didn’t dance with the one who brung him, and Carolinians won’t forget that. I think that’s just the cover for other **issues** which might make him less suitable to balance a ticket to the Conservative side. Those things will poke their heads from behind the door soon enough. And John McCain can ill afford that Samsonite.
JANE’S CAUTIONARY TALE: Sometimes an actor is just acting. And sometimes a Senator from Tennessee is just wanting to be Vice President.
You heard it here first. Psst…pass it on…
The problem with this theory is that Fred Thompson only has a following because he DOES NOT align himself with the RINO club. One would think Thompson is much more wise than this. Besides, Fred Thompson could mop the floor with John McCain and we all know it.
If anything, I see a Thompson/Gingrich ticket working far better than McCain/Thompson. Let’s be honest here… Thompsons supporters just wouldn’t have it.
Thoughts?

Word is Thompson and McCain are longtime friends. However, I agree with you sentiment. Although, I see Thompson-Romney as a more electable ticket.
Coloradans has a nice post on that…

Anyone concerned about John McCain being a RINO and saying Fred is anythig different, should look at and compare their senate voting records on all issues. Neither is a RINO, but ona has broken more eggs. Ginrich has more baggage than Lindsey Graham any day of the week. Don’t get me wrong, I love Newt(I’m from Georgia)but he has been unfaithful to too many wives! This is truly not a consevative value, but he is no RINO either. Calling other candidtes names does effectivly destroy the one clear difference between Fred Thompson and John McCain. The classiness of Fred. Notice he only attacks Democrats and he does it without calling names. If he starts calling his friends names he will appear to lack class and becomes John McCain but with far less experience. Keep it Classy for Fred!

Fred and Newt would be a powerful ticket. Graham is a RINO and I am running for the office of U.S. Senator to replace him. The voters of South Carolina will send a strong message to the nation that we do not appreciate betrayal and elitist arrogance.
