3rd Week of May???????
4 May 2007The latest rumour here
Fred Thompson to enter Presidential race third week of May?
I recently spoke with a political insider in Tennessee who said that Senator Fred Thompson will enter the race for President after his Law and Order contract expires during the third week of May. This is apparently what he is waiting for, as there is some clause that might prevent him from doing what he needs to do to run.The source is a Republican elected official in the state house in Nashville who I consider to be very credible. Otherwise, I would not post this on my blog. I guess we will know for sure in a few weeks. With Thompson running third in recent polls, he could really shake up the race.

As noted above, this is only a rumour. There is absolutely no proof that this is fact. However, it would make some sense considering that by that time the TV sweeps would be ending and it would be risky to miss a lot of the debates.

I must emphasize that this is ONLY a rumor from a Blog that is not a “national” blog (i.e.with a wide spread reputation).
It is certainly an interesting rumor, and it does make sense. But it is NOT confirmed in any way, not even by a second source.

yea, that’s why I just said “here’s the latest rumour”
Take it for what you will. Figured it should be reported though, cause it will probably be picked up elsewhere on the blogs.

I’m not disputing that you said “rumor” and not saying you are trying to mislead. I just wanted it made explicitly clear that a rumor is exactly what it is. After all, just because other blogs pick it up doesn’t mean it is assured truth!
I was going to post this one myself here earlier today, but decided against it for this very reason.

Updated my post to be more clear on that, and gave a little thought on why it could be concievable.

I think the tone of my earlier reply was misleading. I was agreeing with you, not trying to sound defiant. It’s hard to give your tone over the internet.

Great, no problem here! And I have also been taken in a way I didn’t intend. It is hard to convey subtle emotion in writing, especially informal writing in a “comments” section!
Thanks
