Elisberg HUFFs and puffs
10 July 2007Robert J. Elisberg thinks he’s on to something big over at the Huffington Post. In todays column titled “Horrors! The Political Scandal Of All Political Scandals” he asserts something that is completely foreign to the GOP base… that were all up in arms over Fred Thompson’s wife being a young, blond bombshell.
“There is a growing controversy about a politician smack in the center of the presidential nomination process. Its revelation has sent shock waves through his party. Terrifying the party’s very base. The problem is ghastly. Ghastly!:His wife is blond, beautiful and younger than him.
Okay, without even being aware of the details, you just know the party in question is the GOP. Yes, Republicans are up in arms upon discovering that Fred Thompson has an attractive wife.
Gadzooks. This is insane just on oh-so many levels.”
For a minute there I thought maybe, for once, the left knew something we didn’t. But after ten minutes of searching I couldn’t come up with anything even remotely resembling a “terrified party base” or “growing controversy”.
I found all sorts of “Fred Thompson’s wife too hot for the white house?” posts in the left wing blogosphere, but not much more than a peep on the right.
If anything, we’re liking that she’s a hottie. I say put her in the white house alongside Fred. Who on the right has a problem with that?
Besides, the left almost wanted this individual there…
So who exactly would have been more damaging for the image of our nation? Yeah… I concur.
