I’ve watched with a sort of bewildered, confused fascination as the Left in this country has coiled itself up and then sprung open with this fountain of hatred, vitriol, disrespect and intolerance concerning the passing of Rev. Jerry Falwell.

It’s not that I am surprised at the depths that people will sink to. After living on this planet for 50 years, not only have I been on the receiving end of a few assaults on my character and dignity, I’ve regrettably been involved in a few as well.

Little in my experience, however, prepared me for the outpouring of glee and rejoicing coming from the Left. Frankly, I was reminded of the Bible passage in Revelation 11:10. Talking about the deaths of God’s prophets John says, “The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.”

It is one thing to disagree with someone politically, socially, fiscally or any of the other -lys out there. It is alright to disagree vehemently and even passionately. What good are convictions if they don’t stir up a little passion after all? But to vomit up the bile and filth being written on some Leftwing sites goes way beyond passion! You’d think that in death, at last, there’d be room for at least silence - but you’d be wrong!

It wouldn’t matter quite so much if the Left’s reality matched their description. For example, while I’m horrified AT the behavior of some Islamic groups (videotaped beheadings, torture and execution, corrupting the minds of children and such), I’m not horrified WHEN they actually do them because they’ve been telling me this is what they believe and are going to do for years. Where’s the surprise?

The Left, however, is different. They project an image that is tolerant, accepting and striving for diversity. The problem is, to be tolerant, accepting and diverse you must rub elbows with those very different from you. It’s like Christians praying for patience. How will you learn patience if you are not in situations where you have the option to be impatient and yet choose patience? How can the Left claim to be tolerant, diverse and accepting and still be intolerant, narrow-minded and discriminatory when faced with someone with whom they disagree?

There is a word for people saying one thing and consistently practicing something else - hypocrite! At this point, the Left is behaving like a poster-child for ‘Hypocrisy R Us’.

It gets worse when you consider who the Left works hard at tolerating, accepting and advocating. Think Islamic terrorists, pedophiles, racists, Socialists and other violent, anti-American, perverse and generally all around bad people.

Saddam Hussein is justly executed or a cop killer or a kidnapper or rapist - people who made poor choices and thereby earned the contempt of normal people. The Left cannot hold enough vigils, extend enough forgiveness, exude enough tolerance, proclaim enough “Enough is enough!” or cast enough criticism at society for feeling these men got what they deserved.

But if a man whose assault on society consists of passionately disagreeing with others on specific issues and rallying like minded people to join him in championing his views - if those views are not views held dear by the Left and THAT man dies there are parties instead of vigils, vilification instead of proclamation, condemnation instead of forgiveness and downright glee at the death of another human being.

Explain to me how that is tolerant. Explain to me how I can respect people like that. Explain to me why I would want to.

Thinking perhaps the reason the elitist Left champions public education is that it enables them to treat a thing as if it were its opposite and believe the rest of the country is too stupid to catch on … yet more Liberal wishful thinking …
