[…] The Blue Collar Muse opines on the new war surtax proposal: Despite the appearance of a novel funding idea by applying the proposed tax to all taxpayers, doesn’t all the money to fight the war already come from all the taxpayers? How will this be any different? If you answered it’s not, you’re right! It’s just MORE taxation. […]

Every time I hear someone claiming the rich pay more in taxes it makes me sick to my stomache. Sure the top 10% might pay 75% of the taxes (unsure of the real numbers, but I’ll buy it) but they also control OVER 75% of the corporate stock, real estate, artwork, antiques, etc, etc. Last I looked I didn’t have $2.5 million for that Picasso I want for my living room.

The only reason they are trying to change the name of this obvious tax is to make it possible for them to claim that it isn’t a tax at all, thus they can “honestly” say that taxes are being lowered. This is the same thing several states have done after their taxpayers revolted and put specific limits on the amount of taxes their states could charge the citizens. Colorado (where I live) is one of them. Although taxes have more or less frozen since our citizens’ initiative years ago, the fees charged for things like license plates, driver’s licenses, business licenses, etc. have increased dramatically.

These are all taxes that hit hard against communities and citizens who are struggling through an unacknowledged recession. The rich might have a license too, but what is $50 to them when they make twenty times the average citizen who also has to pay that same fee?

And by the way, the rich don’t really pay their own taxes. They charge the poor higher prices on goods and services to make up anything that they are taxed, so in truth, like the alleged court lawsuit payments of the tobacco industry, it is the rest of us who actually pay the tax for them. Think about it.

Anti Dictionary Democrats …

Anti Dictionary Democrats, Humor, Liberal, Taxes, US Military, You'd Be Wrong

It’s been awhile since I posted one of these. Hat Tip to Spree at Wake Up America.

Seems the Dems have decided that a new tax will be needed to fund the war. Some Democrats in charge of Appropriations are thinking a “war surcharge”

… would spread the sacrifice among all taxpayers by tacking a “war surcharge” on top of the federal income tax. Americans would pay up to 15 percent more on their taxes in order to raise the $150 billion needed annually to keep the war going.

Despite the appearance of a novel funding idea by applying the proposed tax to all taxpayers, doesn’t all the money to fight the war already come from all the taxpayers? How will this be any different? If you answered it’s not, you’re right! It’s just MORE taxation.

Despite the appearance of equal sacrifice by all, isn’t the country’s tax burden already borne mostly by those with higher incomes? Don’t the top 10% of earners already pay more than 75% of taxes and the bottom 50% of earners currently pay almost nothing? If you answered “Yes!”, you’re right! So much for equal taxation.

Marveling that the Left never lets little things like reality get in the way of their spin …
