According to a story at Comcast’s homepage, a Wisconsin man found a 4 carat diamond that he gets to keep. And it’s totally legal with no waiting period as there is if you find cash and turn it in to the authorities.
How did he manage that? Well, in Murfreesboro, AR there’s a place called Crater of Diamonds Sate Park. Anyone can go there and look for diamonds. This man has been doing so for 15 years.
More than 700 diamonds have been found at the park this year.
The Crater of Diamonds park is the world’s only diamond-producing site open to the public and visitors can keep the stones they dig up. The largest diamond ever found in the United States, the 40-carat white diamond named Uncle Sam, was unearthed in 1924 at the Murfreesboro park.
Before you all run screaming to MapQuest, I already checked. Murfreesboro, AR is about 475 miles from Nashville. Not quite an 8 hour drive if you don’t stop often or for too long.
Wondering if anyone else is thinking ‘Road Trip’ …
