It’s incredibly disheartening to read. But it is anything but surprising. Skip, at Granite Grok, reports that during a recent confab of Democrats a brief lull ensued after all the exciting stuff wound down. After wondering aloud what Mrs. Clinton must have felt while dodging sniper bullets in Bosnia and after exchanging contact information for the best prices for printers to silk screen Che flags for campaign headquarters the group needed a breather.

Someone suggested they kill a couple of minutes by saying the Pledge of Allegiance. They did have a flag, after all. Not much of one since it evidently was a representation of the flag on some guy’s hat - but it was better than no flag at all. Despite groans and catcalls over the very idea, the suggestion was finally put to a vote. As you might guess, the group voted not to say the Pledge of Allegiance!

When the Left whines about the rest of America finding them weak on National Security, when they wonder why the country finds them lacking when it comes to Patriotism; when they struggle to understand how the rest of the country can look at Obama’s reluctance to wear a flag lapel pin, Harry Reid’s “The war is lost” speech, John Murtha’s “Our troops are cold blooded murderers” speech and intuit that if the leaders behave this way, then the rank and file must approve or they would have thrown the bums out - after all this, frankly I, too, question their patriotism. I question their love of country.

I question it for the same reason I question the patriotism of most Muslims living in this country. If you truly support your country and her troops, where is the outrage from the Left over this? In a word - it’s absent - and rather conspicuously so! Perhaps this is a good time to offer Democrats retaining a vestige of honor, integrity and self respect the opportunity to change their party affiliation. The offer is legitimate. You really do have a clear choice before you. You can continue to associate yourself with a group which has consistently shown itself to be the enemy of everything our country stands for or you can ally yourself with those who, albeit imperfectly, strive to improve and better each individual and thereby strive to improve and better the nation as a whole.

It’s time, too, for those in the Middle to understand there is a clear choice between the sides. While that choice is not always seen in the choices made by party leadership, it is quite clear when ideology and philosophy is examined. There is only one group that defends and supports the individual American, be he rich or poor, black or white, young or old, male or female. That is the collection of political parties, groups, organizations and individuals which make up the Center-Right coalition in the US.

I understand that goes against conventional wisdom. After all, it’s the Democrats that are supposed to be for the little guys. Certainly, if you listen to the rhetoric of the Left, that’s what you would hear. Unfortunately, as with so many other things, the truth is something far different. As evidenced by both the language and the actions of the story reported at Granite Grok, the Left cares not a whit for their country, those committed to defending it or those being defended. What they actually care about other than being entrenched in political power is unclear and has been for years. But don’t take my word for it, just ask a group of them if they’re willing to take a simple pledge …
