Voting Begins in the 2008 Weblog Awards
Posted by: Blue Collar Muse in Blogging, Blogroll, Individual Responsibility, Internet Interests, Nashville Nuggets, Reading List, Tennesee TipsIf you will permit me some shameless self promotion my blog, Blue Collar Muse, is one of 10 finalists for the 2008 Weblog Awards for Best Conservative Blog. Voting began a couple of hours ago. Please go to the page for Best Conservative Blog and consider voting for me. I can’t, with a clear conscience, ask that you vote for me. The award is for Best Conservative Blog and when you get there and see the other finalists, if you find one you feel is a better recipient, please vote accordingly.
I’ve struggled with this for the last couple of days. I decided I’d make my pitch to you like this. “Best” is a quite general term and, as such, can be difficult to apply to “Conservative Blog” without determining what it is that a “Conservative Blog” should be doing and, only then, deciding who does it best. Where I believe I outshine all of the other nominees is not in my reporting/punditry/Conservatism. We all do those things or we likely wouldn’t have made the list in the first place. I believe I exceed the contributions of the others in the area of taking Conservatism and encouraging others to engage their world and culture with it. It is a direct extension of the passion and philosophy with which I write that I founded The Tennessee ConserVOLiance and that allied me with the Sam Adams Alliance as their New Media Specialist in 2008 and serving as the SE Regional Coordinator for #Don’t Go Movement among other things.
Our Conservatism cannot ever simply remain a matter of talk. It must translate to action or it is only half as effective as it needs to be to accomplish the tasks before it. If you agree, I’d be honored to have your vote as Best Conservative Blog. You can click here to vote or cut and paste http://2008.weblogawards.org/polls/best-conservative-blog/ into your browser. The winner is determined by total vote and each person can vote once each 24 hour period. If you vote, I’d appreciate it if you’d consider voting daily for the next week. Polls close at 5PM on Tuesday, January 13th. Finally, if you think it worth it, please consider passing this on to your friends with your recommendation.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
I am not the only Tennessee blogger making the cut to “Finalist”. The following ConserVOLiance bloggers are also in the running. I recommend you vote for:
Knee Deep in the Hooah for Best Military Blog, and;
The Median Sib for Best Hidden Gem (Technorati Authority between 0 and 50)
Friends of mine from outside Tennessee are finalists in their categories and would appreciate it if you’d cast a vote for them as well:
Thurber’s Thoughts for Best Political Coverage;
The ExUrban League for Best Small Blog;
The Black Sphere for Best New Blog.
To find the list of all the categories and see all the finalists, you can go to the main poll page and browse.
Thanks!

Reviewing the 2008 Weblog Awards Finalists: “Best Conservative Blog” Category
Here is my third (and final) post in a series of unfair, sloppy, and intellectually lazy reviews of blogs that are finalists in the 2008 Weblog Awards. And to top it off, I’m posting it after voting has already been open for six days and has on…
