More dangerous hypocrisy from the Left
Posted by: Blue Collar Muse in 1st Amendment, Anti Dictionary Democrats, Blogroll, Common Sense, Individual Responsibility, Kent Williams, Liberal, Nashville Nuggets, Politics, Unintended ConsequencesOver at Tiny Cat Pants, Aunt B has a post titled ‘Lynn Comes So Close’. It ridicules Susan Lynn for saying she doesn’t understand why women who object to unprofessional treatment and seek help to ensure it doesn’t happen again are often treated as if they are in the wrong. Aunt B has one thing right, Lynn’s solution is close to the right one - a lot closer than Aunt B herself, who is far enough off mark she’s not even showing on radar.
Aunt B, notorious Liberal and proud Democrat, sarcastically ponders how is it possible a woman could be victimized and then demonized. Her premise is had Lynn entrusted herself to Feminism this would have been less likely to have happened or maybe never occurred at all.
The irony, of course, is that Lynn is Republican and Conservative. This leads Aunt B to treat her, not as a woman and an ally, but as a political foe in need of skewering. Given most of those currently demonizing Lynn are also Liberals and Democrats and given Aunt B doesn’t condemn them preferring instead to join in the fun, it seems clear her politics trump her principles. Turning female victims into villains seems to be OK sometimes, especially if the woman is Republican and the attacker is another woman. Either that or Aunt B is simply unaware of the inconsistency. I’m not sure which explanation is worse.
Aunt B suggests Lynn was wrong to go to a man to seek protection from another man. Putting aside that Lynn was appealing to an office, not the man holding the office, let’s examine Lynn’s alternatives. She could have handled the matter herself, I suppose. My personal opinion is that’s exactly what she did. That she did so using a man as an available resource doesn’t make her less capable. Rather it shows her smart enough to match the tools to the job. But Aunt B doesn’t seem to be suggesting that, either. Aunt B seems to believe Lynn did need some assistance, just not assistance which includes powerful males. Maybe she’s suggesting the alternative be a powerful sisterhood, or at least a powerful woman, banding together against an unjust assault on the accomplishment, dignity and ability of any woman? Nope - I just don’t see it. If she believed that, why would she, a woman and a devotee of Feminism herself, take part in an unjust assault on the accomplishment, dignity and ability of Susan Lynn?
Aunt B is trying to make the argument cases such as Lynn’s demonstrate the value and necessity of Feminism’s existence to defend women in Lynn’s position. But in making her point she becomes the very thing she’s opposing. I wonder if Aunt B will explain how her disrespect for Lynn and adding to her condemnation as opposed to defending and protecting Lynn as she claims Feminism would doesn’t make her just as bad as Kent Williams?
What would one call that sort of behavior? Typo-crisy? Myop-crisy? Gimme a couple of days, I’ll think of it. Or just forget I said anything. I mean - I don’t have ovaries. For many, that means I don’t know anything about women’s issues. Not like Aunt B …

Well, i swore I wouldn’t comment here again since you deleted my last one….but I’m all about moving on…
You are not even close. Lord knows, i have HUGE issues with how Aunt B represents in these matters, but, really, Muse, it ain’t fair to twist her words to fit your agenda. I believe that what B was saying is that what Lynn felt, indeed what she experienced, is something that should pull her coat to what many feminists have been saying for years…that having control over your body is an inherent right granted by God, or, The Earth Mother, if thats your thing….and that particular awareness should preclude her from using women’s issues as a stepping stone to higher office.
You are a bright guy, but you had better bring your very best if you intend to make light of Aunt B’s arguments. When she is speaking about women who seek protection under the umbrella of women’s rights, you had better make sure you are righteous in your treatment of those rights across the board. That cannot be argued against with any credibility.

@Mack -
As we are discussing via email, and for the record, I have never deleted a comment of yours from my blog. Nor have I ever deleted comments from anyone else.
This is a place where anyone with an opinion is free to share it and have the issue debated back and forth. The only requirement is that you stick to family friendly language.
Now that we’ve cleared that up, I hope you’ll feel free to come back and comment whenever I say something that might prompt a comment.

Good post, Ken. This cracks me up . . . from reading (sheaintmy)AuntB’s raucous response to your post, I suspect she’s just frustrated that you didn’t “engage in dialogue” (or whatever she said) over at HER blog; it doesn’t count if you post and link to her at your own place. It’s ironic to be called out by AuntB, in particular, for purportedly calling her out. And while I don’t visit her blog very often anymore, I suspect that she “spiced”/trashed up her post for the benefit of the non-libertines who were likely to follow your link to her site.
But I am weary of such Lefties’ seeming unwillingness to acknowledge the principled, goodfaith distinction between valuing women as equals and allowing women (or even men) to kill the innocent individual human growing for a time inside of women. Talk about unwillingness to engage in a dialogue . . .
