What we need in this economy is for all those crooked people to stop padding their walets, and looking out for themselves, and worry about this nation, as a whole! Stop out sourcing to save money, and use the labor, and factories, and products here in the U.S.A. Put rules in place that companies have to try to use U.S. products FIRST! There would be a great bidding war, and prices would be comprable, as well as create jobs here in the U.S. do the right thing! every other country etc…. is making money from us, we need to make money from us, right!

@Payday -
Actually, what you are arguing for is more of the same Government regulations that are driving jobs away from the US in the first place.
Have you ever asked yourself why it used to be that a company could manufacture a widget in Peoria, IL and sell it in the US and make a profit 50 years ago but not now? And why they can make that same widget in China, pay to ship it across the Pacific ocean and then pay to ship it across the country and make that same profit today they were making then but they would lose money if they manufactured it here today?
Two words – Government Regulation. Everything from Minimum Wage and Workmen’s Compensation to Environmental and Safety Regulations.
Even if you are right and there is a bidding war caused by your suggestion, where are companies going to cut cost to lower price on goods made here? They cannot cut out the costs of Government regulation which only leaves wages to cut – and those only to a certain extent. Forcing companies to produce goods in the US in the name of lowering prices and creating jobs sounds nice in theory. Having it work in reality is a bit more troubling.
That’s the reason you’re seeing what’s happening in the Economy right now. The President is ordering up all these great sounding ideas without a clue of what caused the problem in the first place and counting on a lollipop view of reality and Economics to kick in and function to generate money in the Economy.
When it fails, he – like the Moochers in Atlas Shrugged – will blame, not their flawed ideas, but the world and everyone else for being too selfish and ignoble to implement such a noble and selfless plan.
The most important question on everyone’s lips these days ought to be, “Who is John Galt?”
