Barack Obama sent me an email today. It read in part,

Last year, millions of Americans came together for a great purpose. We gave everything we had to give — and then we gave some more. In November we won an election, an important first step, but that’s not why we did it.

Today, spiraling health care costs are pushing our families and businesses to the brink of ruin, while millions of Americans go without the care they desperately need. Fixing this broken system will be enormously difficult. But we can succeed. The chance to make fundamental change like this in people’s daily lives — that is why we did it.

In the preceding words, the current occupant of the Oval Office declares that he intended, during the campaign, to introduce fundamental changes like Universal Healthcare into the American experience if he were elected. With his own people putting the price tag at over $1 Trillion dollars (and when have they ever come close to getting those projections right?) and saying it will require over $600 Billion in Tax Increases, I have to ask what seems to me an obvious question …

If spiraling health care costs are pushing our families and businesses to the brink of ruin … and if we can choose to manage some of that brink by deciding when, what and if we get into the minefield that is health care … what sort of impact does Barack Obama think spiraling Government costs will have on our families and businesses especially considering that no American will be able to avoid laying out their hard earned dollars to pay for it?

Given the only possible answer is that Obama’s planned cure will be worse than the disease, to stay with the health care theme, what does that say about Obama and the Democrats? What does it say about those who support them? How long will their base continue to believe their Emperor is clothed? And what will their scorched earth policy leave behind?
