New RSS News Jumbler at ConservaBlogs.com
May 2, 2008
In our quest to provide the best news of the true free-market movement online via various super RSS aggregate systems, we decided to include a few specific pages geared towards policy based blogs. The first one of these to be released is a collection of blogs that belong to members of the State Policy Network.
The first phase of this system includes 14 blogs that belong to various policy research groups across the country. These groups focus on state based politics, which provides a great way for bloggers in those states to obtain good information on the political landscape in home states.
The system automatically pulls the last three posts from each blog, which allows you to watch the entire network from our page. This is a page you political junkies will definitely want to bookmark!

Please Welcome the Evergreen Freedom Foundation to CB

We’re re-structuring a lot of things here on the home page thanks to the “almost finished” RSS system put in place by Allen Fuller and the guys at Flat Creek. One of the major upgrades is a system that pulls in content from state based think tanks and organizations who work to further the free-market realm online. Eventually, we will have more than 40 blogs feeding in to the homepage and more than 500 blogs feeding in to our state lists.
The first two blogs being introduced in to the main homepage here at Conservablogs.com are Liberty Live, the official blog of the Evergreen Freedom Foundation, and the blog of Oklahomans for Responsible Government.
What is Liberty Live?
Liberty Live is the Evergreen Freedom Foundation’s blog. We are excited about this opportunity to communicate more regularly with our members, the media and the general public. Bob Williams, Lynn Harsh, and our policy center directors will comment on daily news events, developments in on-going issues and other matters, as appropriate. The site has been designed to be interactive, so you can post your own comments and thoughts.
And Oklahomans for Responsible Government are “Promoting fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability in Oklahoma government.”
Stay tuned for the next additions!

This story is a little more local than most of our pork reports, but it still warrants a heads up.

Don’t Kid Yourself- 1 Hour Won’t Save World

Earth Day. Live Earth. And, now, Earth Hour.
The latest bright idea from the country that gave us “Crocodile Dundee” is to have everyone across the globe turn off their lights for an hour at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Apparently, a bunch of neo-Luddites in Sydney did this last year and it made them feel good about themselves, so they’ve decided to give the rest of the world a chance to achieve a similar sense of self-worth.
Because, if we are being honest, Earth Hour, like its forefathers, is not about environmental policy–it is about social networking and self-importance. Read more

One of the more interesting new media innovations of the last few years has been the rise and adoption of wikis as open collaboration projects.
Wikipedia, of course, is the best-known and with good reason. Started in 2001, Wikipedia boasts 2,307,939 articles and over 6.7 million registered users. It’s the gold standard, and has spawned wikis world-wide through the sharing of its open-source software. Read more
