Its Over- We Won!

Cross posted from:

The Violence Worker

The American people prevailed today over a Senate majority Leader and a President hell bent on ramming an amnesty bill through the Senate.  Today’s effort to bring the bill to cloture failed. All of us kind of held our breath.  We didn’t know what kind of back room deals were offered and how hard they would twist the fence sitter’s arms.  Whatever took place with this bastard of a bill, it was the epitome of an elitist government trying to ram something down our throats. It didn’t work.  When it was finally killed, A huge, collective sigh of relief was heard across the country.

In the end, the President blew a lot of political capital that wasn’t really necessary.  Sadly, it will be remembered as Bush’s Bill, even though Reid and Kennedy had their grimy and slimy paws all over it.  It’s the way politics work.  Reid and Kennedy will have to answer to no one.
As far as McCain and Brownback are concerned, they should be calling in their Presidential election staffs to thank them and hand out the pink slips.  There is no way in hell they will ever be elected President as a Republican. Unfortunately, Obama and Chelsea’s Mama will get a pass along with Dirty Harry and Chappaquiddick Ted.  The Democrats don’t really care, they just want one of their own and everything is probably already forgotten and forgiven. Many leftists were against this, but not on the same level as most conservatives.
We can’t let up.  We cannot let them berate us with the “racist” label.  It isn’t about where they come from, it’s how they got here.  It’s a nuance that most leftists can’t comprehend.
I don’t believe this bill is really dead.  I believe it’s in a coma, waiting to be slipped through in a defense appropriation or some other vital legislation.  It might even be resuscitated in exchange for a Supreme Court Justice if a vacancy comes up.

We have every right and reason to celebrate our success today, but we do so with the knowledge that this is far from over.  We must remain vigilant lest these scalawags try to slip it by us in some other form or for some kind of  back room deal. As true today as in 1907

The year is 1907….. but the speaker knew what he was talking about.

READ PRINT UNDER PICTURE

Theodore Roosevelt’s ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907:“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American… There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag….. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”Theodore Roosevelt 1907Every American citizen needs to read this!KEEP THIS MOVING

Teddy Kennedy our designated driver on immigration reform

From TheHill.com:

Senate to debate immigration overhaul bill

“I’ve been in Congress for more than 40 years and immigration reforms are always controversial,” the lead Democratic negotiator, Sen. Edward Kennedy (Mass.), said. “But Congress is expected to muster the political will to get it done.  And today, I’m proud to say that we did.”

That first sentence is a brief description of the problem. The fact that career politicians from pseudo-royal families wield so much authority over our freedom and our wallets is a huge problem!  Of course the senior swimmer from Taxachussetts knows immigration reform is always controversial, he has played a major role in every immigration failure over the last forty years. This makes him an expert, albeit on crafting bad legislation. Perhaps in addition from not driving drunk, Teddy should refrain from legislating drunk.

The results of this crash will affect we the people, but that is of no concern to the traitors in power. Drunken with power (and in Teddy’s case mixed with scotch) the elites are numb to the flood they intend to deluge the American taxpayer with. They are not to be bothered with trivialities such as existing law, sovereignty, decreased wages, increased burden on medical providers (with little to no increase in payment to said providers,) and the effective slapping in the faces of those who came to our country legally.

We are not to worry though, the Z visa applicants will pay. According to the news today Z-2 and Z-3 visa applicants will be required to pay $500. According to my perusal of the text of SB 1639 last night the Z-A (agriculture) applicants will be required to pay a cool $100! Does anyone else notice that these amounts seem to be diminishing before our eyes? Of course the supporters of this travesty would have preferred that the details of this “Gateway to a North American Union Bill of 2007” not be reviewed by the prying eyes of the unwashed masses.

Fret not friends, for the government will do a background check on all applicants and they will not receive their visas until the results of those checks are returned or the end of the next business day, whichever comes first! ***This is actually what the bill says!***

The portions of the bill regarding the studying of the treatment of certain groups of people during World War II and possible reparations to them lead me to the following conclusion. I should be filled with remorse for the way I treated these groups 25 to 30 years before I was born. I should willingly give any portion of my income that any federal commission finds appropriate to the surviving members and descendants of the aforementioned groups. Of course my willingness (or consent) doesn’t matter when it comes to taxation. The willingness (or consent) of the American citizens doesn’t matter when our royal class choose Teddy Kennedy as the designated driver to guide us into our future!

President Bush recommends fighting forest fires with 4.4 billion slips of paper

Does El-Presidente Bush believe that if he orchestrates our loss of sovereignty and facilitates the formation of one North American Union he will be selected to be the emperor? If this is not the case, I cannot imagine his seeming desire to accommodate Mexican citizens at the expense of his own countrymen.

Here are two portions of an article from Breitbart.com via The Drudge Report:

Bush Urges Congress

“We have an obligation to solve problems that have been piling up for decades,” Bush said in his weekly radio address. “The status quo is unacceptable.”

As an incentive for those who are skeptical about the government’s ability to carry out the legislation’s enforcement provisions, Bush publicly signed onto a plan for $4.4 billion in immediate funding for border security and workplace enforcement. The accelerated funding would be paid back by new fines and fees for illegal immigrants in the bill.

Given the recent news that illegal aliens have been starting forest fires in order to draw border guards away from their posts to enable unopposed illegal entry, I am wondering if President Bush would recommend the following as the politically courageous method of fighting forest fires:

Air-lift 4.4 billion individual IOUs to the blaze and dump them on the area. Then, regardless of the success or failure of using paper to extinguish the fire, he will pardon those that started the fire in the first place.

This is after all what is essentially being proposed by his insistence on coupling border security with the automatic legalization of those who crossed our borders illegally. Among those who crossed are the drunk drivers, child molesters, murderers, and arsonists that will apparently commit the crimes some Americans won’t.

Senator Durbin’s slippery argument for amnesty.

This letter from Senator Durbin was forwarded to me by an aquaintance:

Dear XXXXXX:

Thank you for your message regarding immigration reform. I appreciate hearing from you.  Our nation faces a host of problems as a result of years of inattention to our immigration policies. There is plenty of blame to go around for the breakdown of our immigration system, but it is clear that the federal government must act to fix it. I have seen the pressing economic concerns that face

America’s workers and taxpayers as a result of illegal immigration. Congress must act to reform our immigration system comprehensively, and we must do so in a way that is tough but fair and consistent with our moral values.
We must include a number of important elements in this reform. First, we must make our borders more secure. Each year, approximately 800,000 people cross the border illegally. We can strengthen the integrity of

America’s borders through the use of advanced detection technology, increased manpower and resources for our Border Patrol, and the prosecution of illegal smuggling networks. We also must place a priority on charging or deporting those who are violent criminals, gang members, or other types of security threats. There is broad agreement that immigration reform legislation should include an additional $4.4 billion in immediate funding to ensure effective border surveillance and workplace enforcement.

Second, we must ensure that employers face real consequences if they knowingly hire illegal immigrants. One important step for better enforcement of the law is the creation of an electronic verification system that will rapidly inform employers as well as enforcement agencies of whether a prospective employee is authorized to work in this country. Along with these strong enforcement steps, the third element of immigration reform is addressing the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants who already live in the

United States. American workers will benefit if we give immigrants who are not violent criminals or security threats a chance to earn legal status. Today, employers can too easily exploit the vulnerability of undocumented immigrants, who can be paid lower wages than American workers have received. Frequently, these immigrants work off the books completely, with neither the employer nor the employee paying taxes. This underground economy has had a negative impact on American workers, particularly in industries such as construction, landscaping, and manufacturing. It is urgent that we hold employers accountable and protect American workers from unfair competition for jobs. Illegal immigrants have, by definition, broken our nation’s immigration laws, and they must be penalized for having done so. However, as the President has said, mass deportation is not a realistic option. It is simply not feasible to round up and deport the entire undocumented population. We are therefore faced with the choice of either leaving the remaining immigrants underground or giving them an opportunity to earn legal status. Given this choice, the better approach is to bring the remaining immigrants out of the shadows and allow those with appropriate qualifications to obtain legal status if they pay fines, pay any back taxes they owe, have no criminal record, learn English, and go to the back of the line behind legal immigration applicants. If they obtain legal status, these immigrants will be governed by wage and labor laws so that employers will no longer have an incentive to pass over American job seekers in favor of lower-earning and easily-exploited immigrants. This will help end the black market of illegal labor that hurts American workers, and the monies paid in by these immigrants will ease the burden on

America’s taxpayers.

The Senate is currently considering an immigration reform bill that contains many of these elements. Numerous amendments have been considered, and more amendments will be offered as the Senate continues its debate. I will not make a final judgment about the legislation until all of the major amendments have been considered. I am concerned about the potential impact of proposed temporary guestworker programs on the American workforce. In contrast to those immigrants who are already here and actively engaged in our workforce, guestworker programs would bring in a large future flow of immigrant workers who might otherwise never come here. I voted to eliminate the guest worker program. When that effort was unsuccessful, I offered a Recruit Americans First amendment to require employers to seek American workers for their open positions before they try to bring in guest workers. I am pleased that my amendment passed, 71-22. I am also pleased that language I offered to address major abuses in the H-1B visa program have been included in the bill. There is no perfect solution to the problems we face as a result of our broken immigration system. The immigration debate has created strong opinions on all sides, and I appreciate your sharing your views with me. I am working in good faith to pursue a package of reforms that will protect American workers and that will be tough but enforceable, economically sensible, and morally defensible. I will keep your views in mind as I continue to work toward those goals. Sincerely, Richard J. DurbinUnited States Senator RJD/tf

This letter illustrates how one becomes a politician. It sounds encouraging and tough on enforcement to begin with… then near the end he slips in the canned phallacy that unless we can round up all the undocumented aliens we must legalize them.

We, the people once again ask for an exercise in common sense. It is obvious to most that there is another option, ETL (Enforce The Law) as Laura Ingraham would say.

1.  Close the border, try building the Hunter Fence.

2.  Force the Social Security Administration to divulge the information they have on the illegals to INS, Homeland Security, and the FBI.

3.  Fine and prosecute employers that are hiring illegals.

Close the border, take away the incentives to be here illegally and let illegal population thin out!

N.O.W. offers $150 BILLION prize for their version of Survivor!

Silly me! I thought N.O.W. was a single theme organization. I was wrong, they are not simply vocal proponents of abortion on demand and supporters of any woman’s “right” to kill her children at any stage of development (see their empathy for Andrea Yates.)   If a child survives the challenges of N.O.W.’s primary mission, it has been deemed that the child and his or her family deserve a grand prize. The winners of the N.O.W. version of Survivor will collect benefits that will only cost American taxpayers a little over $150 BILLION over the next five years! A visit to the NOW website shows a call for support for:

A new American Revolution, Fought with words and ideas

I listen to talk radio whenever I get the opportunity. I hope to do see even though Senator Trent Lott thinks I shouldn’t. I heard Mike Church talking about the eleven grievances from the original Declaration Of Independence that he believes apply today. Check it out here:

Mike Church’s Re-Declaration of Independence

Foghorn Leghorn (as Laura Ingraham refers to Trent Lott) wants to join Lindsay Graham in shutting the “loud people” up on this issue of illegal immigration. We, the people are too stupid to understand the intricacies of cutting back room deals with Tec Kennedy in order for government to accomplish anything. Talk radio connects with people and our senators can’t have the people involved.

I say we, the people have been galvanized by this most recent and most obvious act of tyranny by the government that has grown into an out of control monster. We, the  people are letting our voices be heard in a way I didn’t know would be possible. Talk radio, blogs, and alternative media provide channels of information and sharing of thought that ensures everyone can be heard.

I am inspired by the vocal will of so many Americans to not let the elites in Washington help Teddy steer our nation off a bridge and into The Rio Grande. We have found our voice and we must continue to be “loud people!” We will let our political representatives know our opinions and how their actions will affect our votes and contributions.

Let us do what we can to ensure American citizenship still means something.

Why buy a ticket? and is Teddy Kennedy entitled to the presidency?

With the pressure from El Presidente Bush being applied to the Republicans in the senate to support SB 1348, or amnesty by another name, I am forced to wonder about two questions:

First, why buy a ticket? If you want to go to a concert and hear your favorite band… if you want to go to a game and support your home team… if you want to go to race and cheer your favorite driver, why buy a ticket? Don’t you believe you have a right to get into these events and facilities? If so, why should you pay for things you are rightfully entitled to?

Furthermore, the people that cannot afford the tickets might be willing to provide support for the band, team, or driver in ways that paying fans will not! Surely some of these events could be enjoyed as family activities. Who do the promoters think they are? How dare they deny family unification by not alowing families to enter without tickets?

I am simply horrified for these victims of money grubbing promoters, team owners, and venue owners!

Second, does Teddy “He who floats” Kennedy have the same name and relationship entitlement to the presidency that Hillary “it takes a socialist village” Clinton has? Perhaps El Presidente Bush believes he does. Perhaps Bush is allowing his last two years in the nation’s highest office to be Teddy’s by proxy presidency. We all know that Bush is a caring person and he knows there is nothing left for him to be elected to.

That must be it. Out of sympathy and the knowledge that Teddy coul never win the presidency, George W. Bush is allowing Teddy to navigate the bridge over the river of presidential decisions. I am concerned that President Bush has put all CITIZENS in position to suffer a fate similar to that of Mary Jo Kopekne.

President Bush: “I’ll see you at the bill signing.”

 From http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070611/D8PMIMSO4.html

”I’ll see you at the bill signing,” Bush said confidently about an immigration bill that has run into deep trouble on Capitol Hill.

It seems President Bush is determined to override the will of the people. He is apparently going to return to Capitol Hill wearing his best used car salesman suit and meet with Senate Republicans to put them in their place. Picture the scene:

The Senate Republicans (except those that pushed the immigration bill and voted for cloture) are seated at small tables in front of a grand stage. On the stage is a grand podium with the flags of Mexico and The United States displayed with equal prominence. Behind the podium sits Teddy Kennedy in an ornate chair that resembles a throne. On either side of the swimmer the senators that supported amnesty are lined up in less ostentatious chairs. In the back of the room Teddy’s personal bartender is preparing drinks for the senators as a sign of good will. John McCain comes to the podium and addresses his colleagues as “my friends” and breaks into a chorus of “Bomb Iran.” After receiving minimal laughter, McCain looks to Kennedy and Teddy drunkenly nods. McCain turns back to the audience and introduces “his friend, President George Bush!” The President strolls out to the podium shaking the hands of the senators that supported this bill and stopping in front of Teddy to bow. He then comes to the podium where McCain slaps him on the back and gives one of his signature wheezing “Hee Hee’s.” The President turns and gives the crowd a stern look and begins to present his reasons for supporting this particular bill. (Summary of reasons: He thinks it is the thing to do. Period.)

I am somewhat torn, not on this issue but on the president’s convictions. On one hand it is admirable to defend what one believes to be right. On the other hand it is alarming that someone I believed in could think that legalizing the portion of 12 to 20 million illegal aliens that come forward (I have doubts about the numbers that will actually come forward) before the people around the world that actually want to become assimilated citizens is morally right.

This seeems like a direct slap in the face to every American citizen and a direct punch to the gut to every naturalized citizen and green card holder that followed the rules to come into our country properly. If President Bush wants to go full bore on this travesty I say lets go all the way! Here are some suggested amendments that would only enhance this bill and yet maintain its spirit:

Offer tax breaks to companies that hire only illegal inmmigrants.

Offer low interest loans to businesses that use the “under the table” payroll method.

Proclaim Spanish as the official language of the United States.

Outline stricter sentencing guidelines to be imposed on border patrol agents that attempt to guard the border.

Revive the fairness doctrine to tell the “loud people” to “just shut up!” in the immortal words of Senator Graham.

Propose a tax increase to pay for the state run television network and pay the forces that will be used to shut down non-government sanctioned television.

Dictate that any taxpayer whose house is above a certain size in relation to the number of residents open it to an apropriate number of Harry Reid’s “undocumented Americans.”

This list is by no means inclusive. I am sure that the folks who crafted SB 1348 can add to it and really give it to the country!
