I have to admit that I think it would be nice to have free health insurance. After all, health care is something a person needs. There are other things a person needs and it would be nice if they were provided free of charge as well:

• Food
• Water
• Shelter
• Clothing
• Primary education
• Secondary education
• Higher education
• Trash removal
• Transportation
• Car insurance
• Homeowner’s or renter’s insurance
• Telephone service
• Internet access
• Electricity
• Heat in the winter
• Air conditioning in the summer
• Companionship
• Recreation
• Exercise
• Housekeeping
• Vehicle maintenance

The above list is by no means complete, but on some level they are all needed items. I for one think it would be nice if they were provided free of charge! Lets just do it… one, two, three, snap… abrakadabra… swish and flick…

Alright, I need help! What is the magic spell that will make all our needs be met free of charge? What’s that? With socialized medicine we still get to pay for it but it will be run by the same government that runs all the other inefficient federal programs? I still need help, what is the incentive for researching medical breakthroughs? Or is that going to take place in a vacuum too?

When we get to the free food, will there be long lines for government cheese? Will transportation be provided to and from the cheese lines?

As for the production of the items and services we are provided, will the people that produce them be paid? If so, by who? Oh right, the government will pay them or they won’t need paying because their needs will be met by government benevolence.

My head is starting to hurt trying to figure out how this will all work. I still can’t grasp how the socialists who never saw a tax they didn’t like expect to continue to collect taxes from businesses that will be driven out of business or out of the country.

HELP!

Alicia Silverstone to Appear Nude in PETA Commercial

What does an actress do when she has been out of the limelight for a decade? What is the key to getting attention? Posing or appearing nude, the refuge of washed up actresses and former teen pop stars.

Perhaps the success of the movie “Clueless” will be repeated in the commercial “Clothesless.” PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) is hoping that seeing Batgirl unmasked and unclothed will encourage vegetarianism. I am not sure how skinny dipping former teen stars encourage people not to eat meat but I could see other potential messages for this commercial:

- Man made global warming has made it so hot that even Alicia Silverstone can’t bear to swim in a stifling bikini.

- Her swimsuit was made in China.

- Bush lied, so get naked in public!

- Big clothing is just as bad as Big oil!

- Look at me, I used to be famous!

- Keep your clothes off my body!

- Women are not objects!

I guess this commercial will have an impact after all. I should never have doubted artistic expression. Come to think of it, we should see if PETA can get taxpayer funding to produce more of these public service announcements.

Venezuala’s Chavez Warns Private Schools

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez threatened on Monday to close or take over any private school that refuses to submit to the oversight of his socialist government as it develops a new curriculum and textbooks.

“Society cannot allow the private sector to do whatever it wants,” said Chavez, speaking on the first day of classes. All schools, public and private, must admit state inspectors and submit to the government’s new educational system, or be closed and nationalized, with the state taking responsibility for the education of their children, Chavez said.

A new curriculum will be ready by the end of this school year, and new textbooks are being developed to help educate “the new citizen,” said Chavez’s brother and education minister Adan Chavez, who joined him a televised ceremony at the opening of a public school in the eastern town of El Tigre.

The president’s opponents accuse him of aiming to indoctrinate young Venezuelans with socialist ideology. But the education minister said the aim is to develop “critical thinking,” not to impose a single way of thought.

Hillary even has a brother she can give the post of Education Minister once she renames the office of the Secretary Of Education. Of course he will need some time off near the end of her presidency to focus on pardon brokering. I wonder if Norman Hsu will be her choice Treasury Secretary.

Does Venezuala have a Public Service Academy or is Hillary planning to take socialist indoctrination to new levels?

From USAToday via Drudge:Prisoners in pink: Deterrent or scarlet mark of danger? 

Excerpt:

In the South Carolina case, Sherone Nealous claims that forcing inmates to wear pink is discriminatory and makes them more likely to be assaulted by other inmates. Nealous is serving time at the Allendale Correctional Institution for assault and battery with intent to kill, aggravated assault and assault and battery on a police officer.

 “When the inmate population views an inmate wearing a pink jumpsuit, it is known that the clothing was assigned by (the Department of Corrections) as punishment for sexual misconduct,” states a legal memorandum filed by the department. It “conveys no suggestion that the inmate wearing the jumpsuit is a willing participant in homosexual activity or otherwise vulnerable to … assault.” (End excerpt) 

Here is a thought: maybe it is ok to discriminate against prisoners that break rules on the basis of their rule-breaking! Maybe the attorney representing Nealous in this case should be forced to wear a pink jumpsuit in the courtroom. Perhaps a scarlet letter combination of “PA” should be prominently featured on the attorney’s suit. After all, this is clearly another example of a predatory attorney who is trying to make a fortune at taxpayer expense. John Edwards would be proud. 

The state of justice seems to be eroding before our eyes and here is a prime example. Priorities continue to shift toward criminal rights and away from common sense. What about the notion that inmates should not be engaging in sexual misconduct? Perhaps it is not the pink jumpsuit that suggests that “the inmate wearing the jumpsuit is a willing participant in homosexual activity or otherwise vulnerable to … assault.” I suggest that if anything would give that impression, it would be the misconduct committed by Mr. Nealous, not the punishment for said misconduct!

Meatpackers Union Sues Over Plant Raids from APnews.myway.com

This is what American workers pay union dues for. The union that represents American workers suing I.C.E. for violating the rights of the illegal aliens that are displacing them. How does this protect the workers that pay the dues? How does a union have any credibility with its membership when it actively assists in the transfer of their jobs to illegals?

If I were a union member and my union was suing the department responsible for detaining and deporting the largest threat to my employment, I believe I might start to doubt the level of the union’s commitment to me. I might begin to believe that the purpose the union is serving might be something other than looking out for its members. Who knows, I might even be inclined to vote for the candidate I think would be the best president and ignore the campaign recommendation of my union.

The actions of six grotesque distortions of human beings in West Virginia are more than disturbing.

Neighbors: Torture suspects were trouble

“Authorities say they held a 20-year-old black woman for about a week at their mobile home, where she was tortured, sexually assaulted and forced to eat rat droppings.

Megan Williams’ captors, who were white, choked her with a cable cord, stabbed her in the leg while calling her a racial slur, poured hot water over her, made her drink from a toilet and beat her, according to criminal complaints.”

This crime is being viewed as a race-motivated hate crime. I don’t know what role racism may have played in this horrendous torture, but I do know that these acts weren’t first time offenses committed by the salt of the earth type people that until now had never harmed a soul. Miss Williams did not have to suffer these atrocities as common sense would have prevented them! Note the history of these “people”:

“Since 1991, police have filed 108 criminal charges against the six. Frankie Brewster was charged in 1994 with first-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to lesser charges of manslaughter and wanton endangerment. She was released from prison in 2000 after serving five years in the death of an 84-year-old woman, court records show. Bobby Brewster was accused in March of attacking his mother with a machete, according to court records. The outcome of those charges — domestic assault, brandishing a deadly weapon and obstructing an officer — was not immediately clear. He also faces domestic battery and assault charges after a dispute involving Megan Williams in July. A court date has not yet been set.

The Brewsters were constantly fighting, drinking and disrupting the otherwise quiet hollow in southern West Virginia, Roy and Charlotte Williams said.”

Why can a person enter a plea bargain in a first degree murder case? How can 108 criminal charges, some of them for horribly violent acts, be ignored by by the legal system? Please note that it is no accident that I do not refer to the “justice” system. No justice is served when degenerate scum such as the Brewsters are permitted to roam free and continue to do harm.

If only there had been warning signs… other than minor things like murder charges and machete attacks!

“NEW YORK (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is proposing an international organization to fight terrorism through shared intelligence - cooperation that he says will combat the dangers facing the United States where President Bush has failed.“

The hairspray must’ve soaked in through the thick skull of Mr. Edwards and affected his memory. Apparently “the global war on terrorism” is not only more that a bumper sticker, we also need to create a world-wide organization dedicated to fighting the former slogan subject. Intelligence will also be shared via this prospective organization.

Rumor has it that The Breck Girl, herself wants to be the first to share intelligence. Edwards, sticking to his area of expertise, wants to use taxpayer resources to let Osama Bin Laden know of a better way to dye his hair and beard.

So now we know how the spirit channeling former predatory lawyer would handle the issue of global terrorism: beauty tips for caves without mirrors. He may even be willing to, at taxpayer expense, fly his Beverly Hills beautician to suspected terror training camps around the globe. This is bound to have a positive effect on the war versus terror. After all, if the terrorists feel pretty they may not want to mess up their hair via suicide bombings!

If this doesn’t work Edwards still has a couple of options. He may tell his wife that the terrorists agree with Ann Coulter and sit back as Elizabeth gives the unsuspecting jihadists a tongue-lashing on Hardball with Chris “Rabid” Mathews. If all else fails he will send the terrorists crates of tangerines that weren’t grown in the Middle East, thus making the terrorists feel guilty about the carbon expelled in the transport of their tasty snack.

“San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano is drafting legislation to create a city identification card for immigrants unable to get traditional ID cards, a move likely to anger advocates of tougher immigration enforcement.”

Later in the article we find:

“Ammiano said the impetus for the city cards came from the immigrant community, which asked for his help. Illegal immigrants who are victims or witnesses of crime often do not report the incident because they have no identification and fear deportation. Identification also is needed for many services, such as city health care.

San Francisco already has a sanctuary policy for immigrants, which means no city agency, including the police, will assist the federal government to deport people. So-called sanctuary cities have become a major issue among Republican presidential candidates.”

Apparently San Fransicko officials believe the transgendered people have trouble with identification so they too would benefit from these cards. I am not sure where the difficulty for these people stems from… it isn’t as if driver’s license applications ask what the applicant chooses to wear. I suggest that this is to give the impression that these cards are not just about illegal aliens.

I suggest San Fran would be a great first step in withdrawing federal funds from sanctuary cities. That is unless their plan is to entice illegals to come and get the cards so they can fall into the trap and subsequent deportation that might be waiting for them. Wouldn’t it be great if these cities cared for the law and expected the people within its city limits to be there legally?

Dems Dirty Donor Norman Hsu Fails to Show for Bail Reduction Hearing Leading to Speculation He’s On the Run

Apparently Norman has decided that the best course of action would be to maintain fugitive status until January 2009 at which time he can expect his investment to pay off. Given that he is a top “Hill Raiser” coupled with the fact that potential first gentleman (and cigar fetishist) B. J. Clinton was known to sell pardons, he stands a good chance of receiving a pardon if (God forbid) Hillary wins the 08 election.

Hsu’s decision to remain on the run shows the confidence he has in the candidate he supports. The only question I have is, will Hillary’s brother play a role in the brokering of this pardon?

Would a majority of Americans really want to trust the Clinton’s with the White House again? How can Hillary be considered to be so intelligent and yet claim to be unaware and taken advantage of so regularly? After all she had no idea B. J. was cheating on her and she was mislead on the whole Iraq thing. A more genuine creature, I could not imagine.
