Some Arizona businesses are having whine at their New Year’s celebrations

Drudge links to a Rueters story that bemoans the fate of Arizona’s economic future: “Arizona firms brace for immigration sanctions law” is the headline of the tear-jerking piece.

Imagine the horror faced by Ironco Enterprises having to reduce its workforce by 10% (because 10% of it are not here legally.) Ironco should look at the bright side, apparently only 10% of their jobs are those which Americans would not do.

Imagine the terror in the heart of Jason LeVecke, owner of a chain of Carl’s Jr. restaurants in AZ, who frets about expanding in the state: “It is too much risk for us.” Apparently they might need to inadvertently hire illegal aliens in order to expand in Arizona. They may trip and accidentally miss verifying the status of an applicant. Don’t worry too much about Carl’s Jr. however, LaVecke has a solution! He will expand into Texas, where he apparently feels secure in being an immigration scofflaw.

Never fear potential law breaking Arizona business owners, lawyers will save you!

[Excerpt] Lawyers opposed to the employer sanctions law say that it is unconstitutional and is open to abuse by people making malicious anonymous complaints. They warn that it will also make Arizona less competitive nationally.

“(Already) we have had businesses shut down, businesses that will not go ahead with acquisitions. It is going to get worse before it gets better,” said Julie Pace, one of the lawyers bringing the employers’ suit.

“Arizona will get bypassed economically. We will be known as tough but stupid from an economic perspective,” she said. [End Excerpt]

“Tough but stupid” is how immigration law enforcement is described. It seems elites often view the common sense ideas that benefit the nation as a whole while making businesses follow the rules as “stupid.” It is unfortunate that representing businesses and individuals against the interests of the United States and its citizens isn’t a job Americans won’t do!

Abstinence causes pregnancy?

That is the impression I get from the article: “The Jamie Lynn Generation” by Cristina Page.
That doesn’t sound quite right. I thought that engaging in sexual intercourse, not refraining from it, caused a woman to become pregnant. Well, I guess at the ripe old age of 37 I still have a lot to learn about the birds and the bees… or maybe I should bear in mind that Cristina Page writes for Huffington Post.

Laurie David writes for Huffington Post once in a while, I wonder if we will be seeing a sister column explaining how man made global warming is causing teen pregnancy. Warmer temperatures lead to less clothing and so on.

Alec Baldwin, who also writes for HuffPo, may write about how a combination of the war in Iraq and fathers not verbally abusing their young daughters in phone messages causes teen pregnancy.

The B-list celebrity columnists would be at least as on target as Ms. Page in their assessments. Poor Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant and we must blame the policy of teaching abstinence first. Stated another way, poor Jamie Lynn Spears is an under-privileged youth who needed Hillary’s village to teach her how to avoid becoming pregnant. Isn’t it always the poor, economically disadvantaged children who are at risk? If the Spears family had only made a reasonable income, something above poverty level, Jamie Lynn might have known how one becomes pregnant.

Perhaps common sense could be of some use here. Call me crazy, but I have a hard time believing that Jamie Lynn’s parents don’t know what causes pregnancy. Then again, their parenting to this point leaves room to wonder. Government policy does not cause pregnancy. Parents are incredibly negligent if they depend on others to educate their children on sex. Parents, not government need to make decisions regarding their children. It may be true that we have allowed liberal government to encroach upon our lives to such a degree that some might see the encroachment as an acceptable norm, but that does not excuse parents from their responsibilities.

Oh no HuffPo, I used the “R” word! That is almost as bad as the “P” word and I used the two together! The idea of parental responsibility for their children in regards to the shaping of their morals conflicts with the liberally accepted notion that public school teachers should be instructing students on the merits of doing whatever gives pleasure and aborting any child that might be inconvenient. Those who want laws out of the bedroom and off their bodies seem to want government involvement in the same areas.

I am getting confused. Lets see if I understand the liberal position on teen pregnancy and sex education. The government should dictate that public school teachers should demonstrate to six year olds how to put a condom on a banana in order to prevent economically disadvantaged child stars from becoming pregnant. That at least remains consistent with their adamant demands that parents not be notified in the case of minors seeking abortions. Kill the baby, protect the statutory rapist, and remove parents from the child rearing… the village rules.

Editor of WND endorses Duncan Hunter!

A few days ago I wrote a post expressing support for Rep. Tom Tancredo’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race and his endorsement of Mitt Romney. Today I read something from a Tancredo supporter that made me almost cheer out loud. Joseph Farah, founder and editor of World Net Daily is enthusiastically supporting Rep. Duncan Hunter!

Today’s Between The Lines column explains why Mr. Farah believes Duncan Hunter is the right man for the job. It is refreshing to find support for what would seem to be an obvious choice. The more people wake up to the credentials of Rep. Duncan Hunter, the better chance reason has to overcome a somnambulant electorate. I can think of no explanation other than the voters sleep walking through the nomination process for the lack of awareness that threatens the Republican Party with Clintiani or Huckabee.

No one is perfect, but principled conservatives have a near-perfect candidate to entrust with the future of our nation. Some haven’t heard of Duncan Hunter. Fair enough, he doesn’t have a ton of money or Clintiani’s organization. He also doesn’t have the media and the Republican elites putting his candidacy out there as the hope of the party. The very reasons that he lacks media and elite support are the same reasons to support him:

***He would work on Fair Trade as opposed to the “Free Trade” that benefits some elites but hurts America. He believes China should not get away with cheating on trade and anybody with a job in manufacturing ought to think about that!

***He wrote the law to build The Hunter Fence which would hamper the businesses that hire low wage illegal labor (and also which the current despicable congressional majority has de-funded.)

***He is pro-life and has introduced legislation to recognize life beginning at conception.

***He wants The United States of America to regain its “arsenal of democracy” which would enhance our national security by manufacturing vital defense related items in our country!

***He doesn’t adhere to the politically correct pandering that helps a candidate garner attention.

The elites and the media don’t want you to vote for Rep. Duncan Hunter, do you always do what they tell you? Don’t let the media and elites decide who will lead us!

Which article or amendment deals with big regular season NFL games?

I suppose I should be relieved that the “NFL had faced mounting pressure from politicians in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.” Could this mean that all the work politicians were elected to do was complete? Could this mean that there were no more pressing concerns than Saturday night’s match up between the undefeated Patriots and the play-off spot locked up Giants? (Hot Air analyzed Sen. John Heinz-Kerry’s role in the really important issues back on December 7.)

WOW! This will be a happy New Year!

I suppose the border fence funding has been worked out and our Southern border will soon be secure thanks to the Hunter Fence.

I assume the politicians have listened to Duncan Hunter and decided to put an end to China cheating on trade.

Of course the left-leaning members of Congress are no longer practicing extortion with the funding for the troops. (They support the troops!)

Naturally there will be no more taxpayer funding of baby slaughterhouses. (Planned Parenthood will have to dip into its profits.)

Federal and state governments have surely trimmed their budgets to cover only the bare necessities (with which a bear can rest at ease.)

How do you know when your government is too bloated? There are many examples, but if the junior gigolo from Taxachussetts has the time to badger a private entity until it caves to the pressure, you can be sure that our government is even more bloated than the senior swimmer from the same state!

Here’s To Tom Tancredo!

Congressman Tom Tancredo withdrew from the presidential race today because he felt it was the right thing to do. People supporting Republican candidates other than Mitt Romney will likely be disappointed in his choice to endorse the former Massachusetts governor. I hope that most people don’t question Tancredo’s intentions or his integrity.

This man has illustrated a willingness to speak his mind (when given a chance to be heard.) Given his low standing in the polls and the relatively low standing of my candidate, Duncan Hunter, it is apparent that the majority of poll respondents are a combination of disengaged, apathetic, and misguided. So Tancredo had to make a tough choice. He had to continue his (very) long shot bid for the presidency or step aside and support the best man he feels has a chance to win. He chose the latter and I’m sure the decision wasn’t made without a great deal of thought.

I applaud Tom Tancredo for his ideas and his willingness to express them. I also applaud him for today’s actions, which show a concern for something bigger than his personal goals. I personally cling to hope that people will listen to Duncan Hunter and wake up to the fact that he is the right choice, but I do not doubt that Tancredo is doing what he feels is in the best interests of our nation. Given the rise of Mike Huckabee and the elite designated front-runner status of Rullary Clintiani, I certainly understand his decision. Mitt Romney would be , in my opinion, a far better nominee and president than either of the current front-runners.

As bad as it would be to see one of the current crop of Democrats in the White House, Giuliani or Huckabee would potentially not be much better. Both have their strong qualities but both also have the very alarming negatives.

The pro-choice former mayor has demonstrated a lack of restraint and character in his personal life that cannot be ignored. His indiscretions cost New York taxpayers thousands of dollars in mistress protection and chauffeur service. On top of that, the expenses were seemingly hidden in various budgets. I have also heard recently that his law firm represents the company that will control the TTC (Trans Texas Corridor aka The NAFTA Superhighway.)

Huckabee showed his own poor judgement in supporting the release of rapist Wayne Dumond, who proceeded to rape and kill at least one other victim after his release. Huckabee has proven himself to be soft on illegal immigration, arguing for in-state tuition for the children of illegals and courting a Mexican Consulate to Arkansas (a consulate which gave ID cards to illegals.) As a cherry on top of this spoiled sundae, he is endorsed by the New Hampshire NEA.

Thank you, Tom Tancredo, for your concern for the well-being of your country and supporting what you see as the best attainable solution.

Indoctrination via high school Spanish class in Ohio

“Students struggle as immigrants do” is the headline from The Columbus Dispatch.

Seniors in Erica Vierya’s Spanish class at Olentangy Liberty High School engage in a three week project befitting of Hitlery Clinton’s proposed Public Service Academy. The students must assume immigrant identities, fill out the legal paperwork, and then once the teacher denies them legal status they must come up with a plan to enter and survive illegally.

Ms. Vierya doesn’t intend “to sway the students, only to teach them a little empathy.” In this class illegal immigrants are viewed in the same light as a child adopted from a Russian orphanage, at least in one child’s opinion. That child (the one adopted from a Russian orphanage) was apparently not taught the differences between a legal adoption and illegally entering a country, burdening the taxpayers, and assisting selfish business owners in driving down the wages of American workers.

The fact that the the plague that is the illegal invasion of our nation is being likened to to the wonderful act of adopting a baby from a foreign orphanage is indicative of just how far education has veered left. The legal adoption of a baby is a loving act by individuals. Empathizing with the attack on our sovereignty isn’t exactly the same thing.

Perhaps next year the rest of the school should get involved with the project:

  • Math classes can assign students the task of budgeting money paid “under the table” and figuring out the difference between what they would pay in medical bills and co-pays vs. what they save by not having insurance and being treated at taxpayer expense.
  • English classes can be picketted during the three week project since it is racist to expect people to learn English.
  • Government classes can have students role play as disenfranchised voters who were expected to be citizens and registered to vote before actually being allowed to vote. This might require a presentation by a representative of the ACLU or La Raza.
  • While they are at it, perhaps the Freshman Physical Education class can take a field trip across state lines to a taxpayer funded abortion mill and be shown the preferred method of taking victims of statutory rape in for abortions without notifying parents or authorities.

Do you owe Bill Clinton an apology?

Some Republicans may owe former president and possible future first adulterer, B. J. Clinton and apology. As distasteful as the idea of saying “I’m sorry” to a man that would seem more at home running a porn magazine than a government might be to many Republicans, it might be the right thing to do. Curious if you fall into the unpleasant category of those who should be apologizing to the accused rapist? The following test will determine if you should be sending your regrets:

1. Did you take issue with Bill Clinton’s infidelity and sleazy personal behavior while he held our nation’s highest office?

2. Was your umbrage based solely on the fact that President Clinton committed perjury?

3. Are you joining the Republican elite in trying to force the voters to swallow the “Giuliani is our only hope” poison?

If you answered “yes” to questions #1 and #3 and no to question #2, then it would be appropriate for you to drop the former president a note of apology and maybe a nice box of cigars. That is, of course, unless the infidelity and sleazy personal behavior are only issues when committed by Democrats.

I hate to agree with Tim Russert of “Meet The Press” but he was absolutely correct to ask the former mayor of New York if it would be appropriate for a president’s mistress to be given Secret Service protection. Also, I am curious if (in light of the fact that his mistress was given personal chauffeur service by the NYPD) President Clintiani’s mistress would be flown to getaway spots in a military aircraft that would rival the one Nancy Pelosi was demanding earlier in the year.

NARAL fund raiser should be called dissect & elect

NARAL, the organization fighting for the destruction of babies everywhere, is on a mission. This association of butchery is running a fund raiser which is ironically called “Protect & Elect.” The goal is to raise $40.00 per hour until the election to ensure that candidates that support infanticide are elected.

The “Elect” part of the fund raiser name is easy enough to comprehend. NARAL’s interests are best served if a pro-abortion candidate gets elected. As for the presidential election, that would be any of the Democrats or Rullary Clintiani. Of course pro-life voters are constantly told that the president has no affect on abortion, except the minor little thing that is court nominations. The pro-abortion advocates certainly seem to think the president is important to their cause.

The “Protect” part of the name is the real problem. NARAL exists to ensure that the most helpless are denied protection. This fund raiser is intended to perpetuate the mass destruction of innocent children. The claim is that the woman’s right to choose is being protected. Rape is illegal, therefore the woman’s right to choose whether or not to have sexual intercourse is covered by rape laws.

I wonder how hypocritical the NARAL slaughter advocates would appear if they answered the following questions:

Do men have choice? If so should child support payment be strictly voluntary?

Should rapists receive the death penalty? If not, does that mean the baby is viewed as a bigger threat to humanity than the rapist?

Do you believe in God? If so, do you believe that people have souls? How do you reconcile killing a person with a soul for the sake of convenience?

Do you believe parental notification should be required and strictly enforced or are you in favor of child molesters bringing their prey to the nearest Planned Parenthood slaughterhouse to dispose of the evidence?

Border agents’ case back in court…

Published by Sam Pierce under CAII

Cross posted from The Uncooperative Blogger:

Well, isn’t this some promising news…

From The Houston Chronicle:

Attorneys for the former agents are pushing for a new trial, arguing the agents acted in self-defense, according to briefs filed with the appeals court. They also contend that Ramos and Compean were improperly charged with discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, which carries a mandatory sentence of 10 years. Bob Baskett, Compean’s attorney, said that statute should not be applied to law enforcement officers acting in the line of duty.According to the defense arguments, the federal judge in El Paso erred by allowing Aldrete to invoke the Fifth Amendment on the witness stand, Baskett said, and by not allowing them to question him more extensively about evidence of additional smuggling attempts.

“It basically came down to (Aldrete’s) word against theirs, and if he’s shown to be a lying dope dealer, that might have influenced the way the jury saw the evidence,” Baskett said.

Loya, Ramos’ father-in-law, said the agents were “Nifonged,” a reference to Mike Nifong, the former Durham County (N.C.) District Attorney who resigned because of misconduct in the 2006 Duke University lacrosse case. Loya said Sutton’s office should not have offered Aldrete immunity in exchange for his testimony.

“How could the U.S. Attorney … take the word of an admitted illegal alien criminal drug smuggler over two agents with 15 years of experience who have been involved in over 100 drug busts and never hurt anybody?” he said. “It doesn’t make sense.”

Shana Jones, a spokeswoman for Sutton, said prosecutors were refraining from comment on the case because of the upcoming appeal. David Botsford, Ramos’ attorney, declined to comment on specifics of the appeal, instead referring to court documents.

In testimony before Congress earlier this year, Sutton defended his decision to prosecute: “An honest reading of the facts of this case shows that Compean and Ramos deliberately shot at an unarmed man in the back without justification, destroyed evidence to cover it up and lied about it. A jury heard the facts and voted to convict.” [snip…]

Supporters of the former agents said they were encouraged by fresh developments in the case, including the recent arrest of Aldrete. He was indicted in October and arrested Nov. 15 on marijuana smuggling charges.

The charges stem from smuggling attempts in 2005 — before Aldrete testified as a key witness at the agents’ trial.

Rep. Ted Poe, R-Humble, said Aldrete’s indictment should help Ramos and Compean’s appeal. It shows “the U.S. attorney knew all along that Aldrete was a drug dealer and not some poor mule trying to get money for his sick mother in Mexico, which is what they presented to the jury in the trial,” he said. “He was a bigger player than that and the jury should have known about that. And the reason they should have known about that was because the entire case was based upon Aldrete’s testimony.”

In a statement released after Aldrete’s arrest, Sutton said new evidence led to Aldrete’s indictment and that his office had been working closely with the Drug Enforcement Administration to secure charges.

“Just as Aldrete’s alleged illegal conduct did not excuse the crimes committed by Compean and Ramos, likewise, their crimes will not excuse his,” Sutton said in the statement. “Compean and Ramos had their day in court and received justice in accordance with well-established laws.” [snip..]

The Ramos and Compean case has struck a nerve politically and has been championed by mainly Republican members of Congress and presidential candidates. The White House has been under pressure to issue pardons for the two former agents, amid reports that grassroots groups had gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures of support.

In July, the House approved an unusual amendment by Poe designed to free the duo by barring the Bureau of Prisons from using federal funds to incarcerate them. The move was unprecedented in the House but ultimately symbolic because it would require approval of the Senate and President Bush.

“Opposition to immigration is probably higher in this country now than it has been at any time since the 1920s,” said Rogers Smith, a political science professor at the University of Pennsylvania who studies immigration and related issues. “So that’s a political climate in which appearing to work against tough border enforcement will be unpopular, and political leaders will therefore have an incentive to criticize it.”

Loya said the case is not about illegal immigration. “It’s about a travesty of justice,” he said. “I pray that now we would at least get a retrial.

“I will fight this forever,” Loya said.

I hope and pray that they win this appeal. This case and many others make me sick. Instead of getting tough on illegal aliens, our justice dept has been putting law enforcement officers behind bars! EL Presidente Bush does not want our borders locked down and our immigration laws enforced. He has sent a clear message to border patrol officers to stand down.

  • Secure the border by any means necessary. This includes the Military.
  • Stiff penalties for employers, which are actually enforced.
  • No taxpayer funded programs for illegals or their families. (including school for children of illegals and non-emergency medical care for any illegal)
  • No “Anchor Babies” (no automatic citizenship for children of illegals born in the US)
  • No path to Citizenship in any name or form for those here illegally.
  • No Guest worker program until the above measures are put in place and the need can be PROVEN
  • English only education and the official language of the USA

Save America, stop Rullary Clintiani!

At Townhall.com John Hawkins has a column that gives the GOP a common sense, yet apparently little known ( or little cared about) warning. Far from being another Reagan, Hawkins aptly warns that “Giuliani would be our Bill Clinton.”

How have we let things deteriorate to the point at which the designated front runner for the Republican nomination is the one who could easily be in the other party? Is it that most people just don’t care enough to get involved and learn a little about the men and women who so desperately want to hold our nation’s highest office? Do most people think that someone who knows more than they do will take care of getting the best person nominated? Are we the people generally putting our trust in the media and despicable party elites to guide us on these matters?

I personally doubt that the former mayor of New York would even be considered for president if he hadn’t been in office on September 11, 2001. That tragic day was a turning point for our nation. The effects of the terrorist attacks of that day are still being felt around the world and if Rullary Clintiani wins the Republican nomination it will be yet another tragic effect from that same day.

I and others have previously pointed out the fact that Rullary’s nomination means that abortion, illegal immigration, and family values go away as issues in the coming election. Of course Rullary and his shills (Limbaugh & Hannity chief among them) will find it necessary to spin those subjects with hollow words. We the little people will be told to shut up and take it with explanations such as these:

“The mayor has now said we need to control the border and if he doesn’t we can make our voices heard like we did last spring.”

or

“The only real effect a President has on the issue of abortion is the judges he appoints and the mayor has said he will appoint strict constructionists.”

We do indeed have reason to be wary of Rullary’s promises. That is of course unless we don’t believe in wedding vows. I am assuming he made promises or vows to his first two wives that he provably did not keep. Some of the promises he didn’t keep to his second wife were apparently associated with questionable expense stashing in obscure NYC department budgets. The Politico.com has had a few articles on the questionable expenses, the latest of which, “Rudy calls billing ‘perfectly appropriate’” paints another Clintonesque portrait. Rullary and his people adopt a “Move along. There’s nothing to see here!” stance when it comes to allegations of stonewalling regarding how expenses for his security details ended up on the books of unrelated city departments. Naturally the mayor of New York requires a security detail. Apparently the fact that the mayor requires a security detail everywhere he goes automatically makes it appropriate for taxpayers to send his security team along for his extra-marital trysts with wife to be #3! These expenses were so appropriate that they were charged to obscure departments (make sense? didn’t think so!)

Now we get yet another similarity in the politically expedient lives of Election 08’s two top dogs (appropriate term.) Hillary is receiving a bump for the calm demeanor she displayed in an unscripted moment when a drunk nut took hostages at one of her campaign offices. My wife points out that Hillary’s calm would have been more impressive if Chelsea had been working in that office or if the situation wasn’t a golden opportunity to aid a slumping campaign. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 had a profound affect on everyone, but I doubt anyone can deny that without them, the former mayor would not be considered a front runner for the presidency. ***No conspiracy theories here, but also no sugar-coated denying that Clintiani is capitalizing on the attacks.***

Has our society decayed to such a degree that a majority of Republicans cannot be distinguished from a majority of Democrats. Both parties are apparently content in ignoring issues and positions to elect who they are told to elect.

Please do not allow the media and the elites decide who shall lead us!
