Indoctrination via high school Spanish class in Ohio
“Students struggle as immigrants do” is the headline from The Columbus Dispatch.
Seniors in Erica Vierya’s Spanish class at Olentangy Liberty High School engage in a three week project befitting of Hitlery Clinton’s proposed Public Service Academy. The students must assume immigrant identities, fill out the legal paperwork, and then once the teacher denies them legal status they must come up with a plan to enter and survive illegally.
Ms. Vierya doesn’t intend “to sway the students, only to teach them a little empathy.” In this class illegal immigrants are viewed in the same light as a child adopted from a Russian orphanage, at least in one child’s opinion. That child (the one adopted from a Russian orphanage) was apparently not taught the differences between a legal adoption and illegally entering a country, burdening the taxpayers, and assisting selfish business owners in driving down the wages of American workers.
The fact that the the plague that is the illegal invasion of our nation is being likened to to the wonderful act of adopting a baby from a foreign orphanage is indicative of just how far education has veered left. The legal adoption of a baby is a loving act by individuals. Empathizing with the attack on our sovereignty isn’t exactly the same thing.
Perhaps next year the rest of the school should get involved with the project:
- Math classes can assign students the task of budgeting money paid “under the table” and figuring out the difference between what they would pay in medical bills and co-pays vs. what they save by not having insurance and being treated at taxpayer expense.
- English classes can be picketted during the three week project since it is racist to expect people to learn English.
- Government classes can have students role play as disenfranchised voters who were expected to be citizens and registered to vote before actually being allowed to vote. This might require a presentation by a representative of the ACLU or La Raza.
- While they are at it, perhaps the Freshman Physical Education class can take a field trip across state lines to a taxpayer funded abortion mill and be shown the preferred method of taking victims of statutory rape in for abortions without notifying parents or authorities.

Excuse me but this project is being blown out or proportion. I am an Olentangy Liberty Student, and i know that person that you refer to as a Russian orphan, she does understand the differences of what is happening, but this project was beneficial to her in the aspect she learned how lucky she is to be here in the United States and how hard it is to be able to come here. She does not condone illegal immigrants it just help her understand her situation. This whole thing about the project is being blown out or proportion, it has been done since the school has opened, why is it be criticized now of all times, WHY NOW?

I am a student at olentangy liberty high school and one of Profe Vierya’s students. this was a story on another website and you all are being stupid. The olentangy student above states my ideas as well and you know what? If you don’t know the teacher or attend the school or are a parent of a student, then back the f___ off because you don’t know the situation because of the bull crap they’re feeding you. Now just a warning to all writers, the dtupid comments and the false stories are the things that are hurting us, not Vierya or the project. Yes, the people who are ignorant to the situation, back the f___ off.
I’d like to thank the two students for commenting. I believe the story as presented in the Columbus Dispatch article is indicative of a disturbing trend in our society, specifically in public education. It would seem that a Spanish class would be intended to teach the Spanish language, not to provide a teacher a captive and impressionable audience for her personal agenda.
As a parent and a concerned citizen, I find stories such as these alarming, especially in the wake of the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” sham that some in our Senate (in conjunction with President Bush and business elites) tried to slip past us earlier this year. The problem of illegal immigration was given heightened attention due to the despicable back door deal that was made last spring.
Also, this week we were given another example of our government working against the interests of its citizens when the monster appropriations bill cut funding for the fence.
Please understand that a person who believes immigration laws should be enforced and that those who came here illegally should not be rewarded for their illegal acts is not bigot.

It is admirable that the students are defending their school and their teacher. It would be even more admirable, and a much better advertisement for the school, if they could do so without obscenities and while utilizing correct spelling and proper grammar. One of the major problems with public education is the emphasis on “feel good” liberal silliness at the expense of things like reading and writing. Unfortunately, the kids are the victims of this nonsense. If things don’t improve in our schools, the students won’t be empathizing with illegal immigrants, they will be competing with them for low wage, unskilled jobs.
Sam Pierce, your the type of person that bitches about illegal immigrants until you need your lawn mowed or an addition added to your house. Its extremely hypocritical for you to bash on my school and illegals considering you yourself(assuming your not a Native American) are one. Last time I checked, the Iroquois, Sioux, Crow, Cherokee, etc. never gave your European ancestors the right to immigrate to their lands, sell the land from under them, and attempt to destroy their culture.

I mow my own lawn and if I needed work done I would certainly try to hire a contractor that employed citizens or legal residents. I would certainly agree that employers who hire illegal aliens hold the lion’s share of the blame and should be fined and/or prosecuted.
I was born in this country after the constitution was ratified. My parents were American citizens. By your logic there should be no United States of America. Likewise by your logic, the descendants of slave owners would themselves be considered slave owners. I suppose you are taught that the government owes African Americans reparations for slavery. If that is the case, keep in mind that no one alive today has ever owned a slave in America and no one alive today has ever been enslaved in America.
You demonstrate concern for this nation in the same comment that you indicated that the nation should not exist. That doesn’t make sense.
You seem to believe immigration laws should be ignored. What other laws would you suggest be ignored?
I don’t mean to say that we eliminate all immigration regulations. But to me it doesn’t make sense to punish people who, excluding those in Latino gangs because they truly are a detriment to society, are only trying to better their lives much like you and I do everyday.
I believe the problems of illegal immigration go beyond the gangs. The following are, in my opinion detriments to society:
Illegals carrying diseases (there is no medical screening for illegals.)
Illegals driving down wages and supplanting citizens in the work place.
Terrorists coming across the open border.
Illegals getting primary care in emergency rooms, creating un-reimbursed costs for hospitals and driving up the cost of medical care for those who play by the rules.
Illegals driving drunk and killing citizens (I know citizens also drive drunk, but the illegals shouldn’t be here in the first place and therefore should never have been on our roads.)
