Lead By Example, Or Shut Up!

There is little chance that the three liberals running for president along with the other notable morons that preach the gospel of liberalism from their various pulpits will succumb to common sense and allow for the limited self-government our founding fathers intended. Perhaps it is not too much to ask that if they would lead, they do so by example. Demonstrated leadership would at least give these egomaniacs a shot (albeit a long one ) at credibility on their pet issues.

The Republican candidates inappropriately named “Straight Talk Express” must not have stopped to pick up his wife’s tax returns. Cindy McCain “will never” release her tax returns as a matter of privacy. Apparently face lifts can squeeze the brain if Mrs. McAmnesty doesn’t think the candidate’s financial situation is open for consideration. Does she actually believe that Teresa Heinz-Kerry is the ideal role model for potential first ladies? Call me crazy, but I believe it is important to know where a presidential candidate gets his money. McCain is the self-appointed model of propriety and believes money and influence should be removed from all politics. He went so far as to restrict the free speech of individual citizens by way of McCain-Feingold for the supposed purpose of preventing huge campaign contributions and expected favors in return. I contend that a motivating factor in the travesty known as McCain-Feingold was the hope that if all voices other than the media were restricted, the media’s favorite “maverick” could finally attain the object of his lust, the Republican nomination. The legislation has served its purpose, can we repeal it now? How about a little transparency Senator? Or is that one of those “do as I say, not as I do” items? The fact that the McAmnesty’s have always filed separate tax returns means absolutely nothing unless we are so stupid as to believe that the senator has lived off and only benefited from his own money! What kind of marriage is theirs? Do they live in separate houses, Cindy in one paid for by her, and John in one paid for by him? Is Senator McCain a kept man? The point is that Cindy McCain’s income and donations could indeed influence Senator or President McCain’s decisions and therefore should be open to scrutiny!

Yesterday’s Washington Post trumpeted: “McCain Pushed Land Swap That Benefits Backer” and well they should. If McCain had any influence at all over the land swap that benefits one of his large supporters, his hypocrisy should be vetted. This is Mr. Clean, after all. This is the man who claimed his own weakness toward temptation inspired him to assume everyone lacked the character to respect his or her position of power, and thus we were sentenced with McCain-Feingold (giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming that its complete purpose wasn’t to assure his eventual nomination.) There is no reason or room for favors to donors by any public official, period!

Does LaRaza know that McAmnesty got the message on the border? Is that what he will address when he speaks to “The Race” later this year? He has been slipping “comprehensive immigration reform” back into statements and interviews lately, which only makes sense… since he has secured the nomination and can be at least a little more honest. Who believed that he would ever secure the border and not revive McCain-Kennedy? I think it was P.T. Barnum that indicated that one of you was born every minute.

This unusually cool May seems like a good time for McCain to plan a Global Warming campaign tour. I assume Senator McCain’s tour will be on an emissions-free bus? No, well I assume, at least he will not use electricity to magnify his voice. No? Well then, is he going to just solicit more donations from the base he detests in order to purchase offsets from Al Gore?

I continue to search for enough reasons to support McCain as the lesser of two evils, for that is the best case scenario at this point. Senator McCain continues to prove that the differences between him and his opponent are too minimal for comfort. So I humbly request that the campaign finance reform poster boy conductor of “The Double Talk Express” lead by example or shut the hell up!

I focused more on McCain than I originally intended, but he continues to apply the type of pressure that seems intended to break, or at least beat conservatives into submission. I also cling to the hope that The Republican nominee would at least be reasonable, thus the disappointment is magnified. Now to discuss the admitted Democrats, from whom no reasonable person expects anything reasonable.

Hillary Clinton wants to confiscate the “windfall profits” of the oil companies. (I was under the impression that the dollar wasn’t worth much these days, and if that is the case then the profits aren’t worth as much as the numbers would indicate if the dollar had value.) The oil companies are making a profit. Would they continue to supply oil if they were not allowed to profit? Unless Hillary “Chavez” Clinton intends to nationalize the oil companies and restrict supply, the answer is no. When Shillary screeches her artificial populist rhetoric, does she mention the $109 million she and Monica’s rapist boyfriend have made since releasing The White House from their clutches? The services of The Shrew and The Perjuring Rapist must be valuable indeed if none of that $109 million was profit! I’d ask Hillary to lead by example or shut the hell up, but Tuesday’s narrow victory in The Indiana Primary may have rendered her inconsequential and finally suffocated her air of inevitability.

Barack Obama, champion of wine and cheese tasters was recorded lamenting the fact that ordinary people don’t support him. In what could be described as a rare moment of “straight talk,” Barry O enlightened his upper crust supporters to the fact that, in his opinion the little people were bitter which would explain their clinging to “guns and religion.” The statement demonstrates the superficial quality of Barry’s “Christianity,” a religion he apparently uses for appearances and vote solicitation. This would explain how he could be so supposedly blissfully ignorant of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s radical orations. When Barack was in church, and assuming he saw no camera around, he probably put in his ear buds and read a little Marx to soothe his soul. His statement made it clear that religion is something hopeless people cling to because their lives are so miserable and worthless.

Barry holds his nose in the air at the thought that American citizens exercise 2nd amendment guaranteed rights to bear arms. Again this is something to which miserable commoners “cling.” Odd that he seems to be content with the notion of bombing The Pentagon, The Capitol, and police buildings to protest our own government. In fact, former domestic terrorist and member of The Weather Underground, Bill Ayers is just an English Professor at UIC in Barry O’s humble opinion. Sure they sat on a board together, and yes they gave a couple of speeches together, but what does that matter? Ignore the fact that in order to launch his campaign for The Illinois Senate in seedy Chicago politics style, Barry O had to appear at the home of Bill Ayers and his equally repulsive wife Bernadine Dohrn to seek their stamp of approval. One gets the impression that these terrorists are like royalty in Chicago politics and must knight any Democrat that hopes to succeed! The parents that pay tuition to UIC should probably be very concerned about the quality and substance of their children’s education.

Barry has one magic trick that he expects to play over and over to avoid the remote possibility that he might be expected to engage in the obviously beneath him activity of discussing issues, policy, and detailed solutions. This is actually a card trick, the Race card” to be precise. You may recall that he also told his elite San Fransicko supporters that the little white people have “antipathy for people who are different from them.” They are racist if they don’t support the candidate of “change,” who transcends race.

Maybe thoughtful commoners just recoil at the notion of supporting the most liberal senator in the U.S. Senate and one of the most despicable supporters of the most gruesome late term abortion practices in public office. From The Illinois Federation For Right to Life:

Democrats won control of the state Senate in November 2002, and when Born Alive was reintroduced for the third time in 2003, it was directed to the Obama-chaired, infamously liberal Health and Human Services Committee, where he simply refused to call it for a vote.

By this time Obama was running for U.S. Senate. He won his primary in March 2004, and Republicans recruited former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes, who lived in Maryland, to oppose him. It was Obama’s position against Born Alive that persuaded Keyes to run, as he stated in his announcement speech:

“When I was first approached about this possibility… I have to say that my reaction was negative…. What finally caught my eye, however… what finally arrested my attention and forced me to consider whether I not only had the opportunity to oppose him, but the obligation… was when I learned that (Obama) had actually, in April 2002, apparently cast a vote that would continue to allow live birth abortions in the state of Illinois … .

“We are talking about a situation in which, in the course of an abortion procedure, a child has been born alive — is out of the womb, breathing and living on its own — and he cast a vote against the idea that we should not stand by and let that child die!”

Obama’s cavalier attitude toward the unborn should come as no surprise to those that heard him refer to a potential grandchild of his as a punishment to his daughter should she make a mistake and find herself pregnant. For the sake of our children and our liberty, Barry please lead by example, or better yet, shut the hell up!

Its cold for May, but the global warming communists are not deterred!

Run for the water! It is a scorching 53 degrees in southern Illinois and The Bulbous Goreacle’s prophecy of doom is becoming reality. Not even following Sheryl Crow’s one-square per sitting rule can save us now from the impending inferno!

Excuse me a moment, I need to go put on a sweatshirt.

Okay, now that I’ve warmed up, we need to figure out if we have any hope at all. What can be done to save the planet from boiling and who is going to take action? What we need is more than action… we need an ideology… we need communism. Fortunately there is no shortage of communists in the U.S. and they are more than willing to further the sham, I mean impending terror of anthropogenic global warming to impose their ideology on an unsuspecting populace.

The Washington Post’s Juliet Eilperin wrote a glowing tribute to Communist Seattle, Massachusetts, and California titled “Block by Block Communities Fight Global Warming.”

Officials in King County and other places are rethinking the way their communities grow and operate, all with an eye toward reducing their overall carbon footprint. After decades of policies that encouraged people to move out to the suburbs in pursuit of larger homes and bigger back yards, some policymakers are now pushing aggressively to increase urban density and discourage the use of private cars.

In Massachusetts, the state demands that developers calculate and disclose the climate impact of their projects. In California, Attorney General Edmund G. “Jerry” Brown Jr. has sued communities and power companies for failing to offset the greenhouse gases generated by their expansion plans. And Washington, D.C., officials are installing a new trolley line and bike rental kiosks in an effort to cut back on car trips within the city.

Juliet even writes about a real issue without even realizing it. The issue would be the cost of gasoline and who is really responsible for its rise:

But not without occasional resistance. Brown has sued entities as varied as San Bernardino County and petroleum giant ConocoPhillips to hold them accountable for the impact of their growth on the state’s greenhouse-gas releases. He reached settlements with both last year: San Bernardino officials agreed to estimate the county’s 1990 and current emissions levels, analyze how its land-use decisions will affect its emissions by 2020, and to develop a plan to cut emissions stemming from its land-use policies and government operations. ConocoPhillips agreed to pay the state $10 million to offset the climate impact of expanding its oil refinery in Rodeo, Calif.

Pop quiz that anyone whose brain has not been melted by the scalding 53 degree May 3rd temperatures could answer. From where does the money for $10 million dollar penalties come? Perhaps the people that buy gas share in funding the penalty! It is unfortunate that there isn’t a poll tax to fund all these communist politician mandated stupid and wasteful plans. This particular tax, of course would only be levied on the people that actually cast votes for those candidates with Marxist leanings.

This election year, we are fortunate (cough, cough) enough to have two candidates with openly, just not admittedly, Marxist leanings and a third candidate who isn’t much better. There shouldn’t be confusion as to the qualifications of the three candidates since there is a clear winner on this issue. From J. Taylor Rushing at The Hill:

An environmental activist group on Saturday cited the “sham” of a national gas tax holiday proposal in its endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president.

Friends Of The Earth Action (FOEA) said the holiday idea proposed by fellow presidential contenders Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) was the key reason for its endorsement of Obama.

Showing the type of logic that permeates these groups, its president Brent Blackwelder made the following statement.

“The two other candidates responded with sham solutions that won’t ease pain at the pump, but Senator Obama refused to play that typical Washington game,” Blackwelder said. “Instead, Obama called for real solutions that would make transportation more affordable and curb global warming. He showed the courage and candor we expect from a president.”

I’m apparently no Friend Of the Earth because I am having trouble seeing how paying more for something makes it more affordable. Of course I never claimed to have the intelligence of an Obama supporter.

The bottom line is that Hope-a-dope Obama out-Marxed Hillary on this one. Is this because he is so out of touch with the common man that he believes we are so stupid that we can’t see the benefit of keeping more of our own money as opposed to sending it to the Federal Department of Waste (otherwise known as the federal government?) The alternative is that he is too stupid to realize that the notion of paying less for gasoline might appeal to regular people.

I wonder if Karl Marx is looking up from his ultra-warm dwelling and watching with pride as his American disciples spread his message through stealth and in the face of the dreaded obstacle, sometimes known as common sense.

3 Cheers for IL State Rep. David Reis and HB 4403

The Supreme Court has rendered a 6-3 decision upholding Indiana’s voter ID law. Naturally a victory for common sense and reasonable measures to limit voter fraud draws the ire from a certain group of people. This group, it would appear, depends on voter fraud to some degree to win elections. There is a name usually reserved for this group, a name that no longer represents its noble roots. This group is called “Democrats.”

Blue Collar Muse has a post titled, “Dems fume as voter fraud issue settled by SCOTUS.” Blue makes a typically insightful point in his last paragraph:

Given the history of voter fraud in this country, from Boss Tweed a century and a half ago to Kennedy and Nixon in 1960 to Chicago’s infamous motto, “Vote early, vote often!”, voter fraud is generally a charge leveled at Democrats. That they fought so hard in Indiana and elsewhere around the country to keep simple, inexpensive, common sense requirements from being enacted that will combat fraud should it be attempted won’t go far to change that perception in the minds of many.

I hadn’t gotten around to leaving a comment on Blue’s post when I saw great news in my e-mail from The Illinois Republican Party. This e-mail announcement reminded me that conservatism and values still can be found in the Republican Party that I have been disheartened by in recent months.

My state representative, David Reis, has introduced HB 4403 which would require Illinois voters to show a government-issued photo ID at the polls. From the press release:

“This legislation is long overdue and will restore confidence in the voting procedure itself,” Reis said. “It will help ensure that the person showing up at the polls is really the person who they claim to be.”

Democrats will offer typical arguments such as this gem:

But the Republican-backed concept might not sit well with the Democrat-controlled Illinois House and Senate. State Rep. David Miller, D-Lynwood, said many Democrats agree that requiring an ID to vote could squeeze out some voters.

“Unfortunately, a lot of lower-income people don’t have your traditional ID,” he said.

Rep. Reis and HB4403 are prepared for Rep. Miller’s (invalid) concern:

The measure will also authorize the election authority to provide a Government ID card free of charge to those who cannot afford to purchase a card. In addition, the bill will allow for provisional voting if a person does not have an acceptable form of ID on the day of the election.

“Our legislation ensures that in the event someone cannot afford a state issued ID, one will be provided at no cost to the individual,” said Reis. “Regardless of your financial status, you have the inalienable right to vote and this bill safeguards that right.”

I met Penny Pullen, Illinois State Eagle Forum leader, at an Illinois Republican Leadership Training Retreat and she told me that we had a very good state representative in my district. She said David Reis was not afraid to introduce legislation and do the right thing. This voter ID bill reinforces Mrs. Pullen’s assessment of Rep. Reis and I hope the residents of his district appreciate the representation that we are getting at our capitol.

The unfortunate influence of Chicago’ political machine will probably make the passage of this important legislation an uphill battle so I would urge all Illinois residents to contact your representatives and ask them to support HB 4403! Imagine an election in which people only vote once and is restricted to citizens and living persons.
