Mel Gibson: the Left’s Prodigal Son

Just saw this on drudge about Mel Gibson.

He presented a work-in-progress screening of his Mayan adventure tale, and then took questions. About one-third of the full house gathered for the film gave him a standing ovation. The film is scheduled for a December 8 release via Disney.

In describing its portrait of a civilization in decline, Gibson said, “The precursors to a civilization that’s going under are the same, time and time again,” drawing parallels between the Mayan civilization on the brink of collapse and America’s present situation. “What’s human sacrifice,” he asked, “if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason?”

Wow… Talk about sucking up to the left. “Okay, guys, I’m really sorry about that whole anti-Semitic crazy racist thing. I know we’re supposed to keep that a secret. How’s this? I’ll bash the war a bit and we call it even?” Even? Are you kidding me? They’re running out to him like a father to his prodigal son.

Addressing his “argument” (if you can even call it that)… I think the human sacrifice comparison he’s looking for is better found in abortion. What’s human sacrifice if not brutally murdering over 4,000 of our unborn children every day?

Sending men off to war in Iraq for no reason? What, was he hungover on 9/11? Yeah, yeah, the war in Iraq has nothing to do with the war on terror … bull! Um … last I heard, that’s where Al Qaeda is fighting us. The way I see it — better in Iraq than here in the states. Some people have no common sense.
