Alright, I should be studying for my government midterm which is tomorrow, but I couldn’t resist checking Hot Air after I looked up some useless information about the European Union. (The midterm - worth 30% of my grade, yikes! - is for my “Politics of the European Union” course, which is, without a doubt, the most boring subject government has ever seen. I swear, if the EU adds one more useless layer of bureaucracy, I may explode.)
Allahpundit and Ian posted a couple of videos, one of Michelle and one of Ann. In an attempt at avoiding extreme procrastination, I only watched the Ann clip. She is amazing as always in explaining her joke. I especially love at the end when Alan tries to insult her by calling her joke “sophomoric” and she clarifies, “No, it was a sophomoric word. It was an excellent joke.” ![]()

You made a smart move only watching the video of Ann. That is, unless you enjoy watching and listening to Malkin acting so self righteous.
Ann defended her comment superbly — and she didn’t even have to claim it was a botched joke. It was funny — apparently every one thought so except for the self righteous HotAir corner — and they’re just better than that.
Michelle was so grateful her kids didn’t come along to CPAC or they might have heard the word faggot — yet she has no problem with them hearing the term “John screw you McCain” or talking about whether or not some one has the “balls” on Fox News. Wonder if her kids ever hear those comments coming out of her own self righteous mouth. Just wondering.
In the one you didn’t listen to, Laura Ingraham said her friend was watching CPAC on C-SPAN with her 5 year old kid, when Ann said it.
In the comments:
I am outraged! Who watches C-SPAN with a five year old!?
After listening to her whole speech, I’m forced to admit that you guys were right - it wasn’t as outrageous as if you just heard the one-liner. I still wish she passed on making the joke, but it certainly wouldn’t have worked without that word.
“I’m forced to admit that you guys were right”
Oh, Kevin, we are always right.
Oops, I forgot y’all were women!
I’m a Malkin fan but I agree that she came across as self-righteous.
And it made a big difference to hear Ann’s earlier comments about gays. It made it that much more obvious that the dig was at political correctness, not gays. Thanks for the link!
