IIRC, there is Biblical justification for saying that Christians are perfected Jews. Would anyone throw this much of a fit if goddess-worshipping vegans said that they were improvements upon Christian meat-eaters? Sigh. IIRC, "perfected" does not mean what it would mean in standard English - the soul is perfect through God, but the person, on Earth, is very much fallible. Right? "Al Sharpton of the Jews."
