True that, Teresa.

I can't believe he went to get a divorce the very next day. I've read a bit more about the case, and she was apparently raped by an ex-boyfriend. He's also about ten years older than she is.

Why would you need to see the woman you supposedly love bleed? Why would God want to wipe out one of Norways most important folk-culture artifacts?

*shrug*

I can see the desire to have something special and unique between you and the woman you love. If that's the case, though, you wouldn't divorce her the next day. Clearly a guy looking to score with a virgin, not one looking for a deep sexual and spiritual connection - a man who has also abstained from sex.

No clue as to the fiddling part.

He must have been ignorant of the fact that not all hymens bleed when they are broken, and hymens are frequently broken by other activities than intercourse...and sometimes don't form at all.

But he must be a more modern man than you find in some parts of the world, cause he didn't just up and kill her.

Over-reliance on religion makes people weird. I just did an entry about how Christian revivals in Norway in the 1800's nearly wiped out the national folk instrument (hardanger fiddle) because it is reputed to be associated with the devil and trolls.
