Why NOT to Ride Greyhound

This is to fulfill my odd/disgusting news story quota of the month.

And this is relevant not only greyhound, but all buses!  True story, some of the creepier people I have ever seen were on a bus that took me from Ithaca, NY to Buffalo, NY (and every podunk town in between).  Honestly, I just hate buses.  Mean drivers, dirty seats, creepy people… pure nastiness.

From FoxNews, Man Accused of Stabbing, Decapitating Seatmate on Greyhound Bus in Canada

When the victim began screaming, the bus pulled over and more than 30 passengers fled. The driver, along with a passenger and a trucker who had stopped at the scene then boarded the bus in an attempt to help the victim, the CBC reported.

“When we came back on the bus, it was visible at the end of the bus he was cutting the guy’s head off and pretty much gutting him up,” Caton told the CBC.

The attacker reportedly lunged at the three men, who managed to trap him inside the bus until authorities arrived.

I don’t know if I have mentioned it here, but I absolutely love my new 2008 Nissan Sentra… for many reasons, but never having to ride a bus again is near the top of the list.

I rode a greyhound once and I didn’t need this story to convince me to never do it again. I still feel guilty about making you take a bus to the Buffalo airport. :( Oh well, it’s all water under the bridge now. :)

Oh, and I don’t remember any type of security before boarding that stupid bus. So, I guess the moral of the story is, if you have to ride it, you should probably be packing heat. Don’t you think?

Riding greyhound buses should be banned!!!! I had to ride the bus before and I was horrified simply by the lack of upkeep of the facilities. Most of the people were dirty. The government should end all greyhound bus transportation services until the facilities are improved and proper security measures are established similar to the airlines. Although cheap, greyhound bus service isnt worth your life!!!!

I road a Greyhound bus twice- once from North Carolina to Vermont and another time from North Carolina to Florida. My experience was actually quite good both times. I sat next to some very interesting folks, including: a Mexican migrant worker whose English was just good enough to carry on an interesting conversation about America, a blind woman who shared with me the difficulties she faced in everyday life because of her disability, a beautiful young woman who I dated for a while after meeting her on the bus (she is a doctor somewhere now), and an older woman who showed me pictures of back when she was a young dance instructor. Great times. Sorry to hear your experiences have not been as good.
