Caving in to peer pressure: a round-up of Sarah Barracuda defenders

Obviously, the press has been having a field day with Gov. Palin.  From the vile US Weekly cover to an assortment of other lies, the press is not worthy of the name.   Thankfully, the blogosphere has responded in full force.  A very hearty “congratulations” and “thank you” to the bloggers who have expended an incredible amount of time and energy researching these issues.   It’s hard enough just keeping up with the massive amount of good stuff they all produce; it’s amazing to contemplate how much time has gone into this effort.

Simon trashed the following Palin memes:  Sarah “came out of nowhere” | Sarah wasn’t vetted (or was inadequately-vetted) | Sarah was picked because she’s a she | Choosing Sarah was a mistake | Sarah said she didn’t know what the veep does | Sarah doesn’t do interviews | Abstinence-only education failed Bristol Palin.

Jim Lindgren takes on the WaPo’s claims about Palin’s reimbursementQandO blog likewise does a great job of smashing that piece of journalistic nonsense.  In a stunning example of media bias, we see no such articles about Barack Obama’s claims while he was serving in Illinois or in Congress.  Considering that Obama has a fundraising shortfall, and he’s spent the past two years promoting himself, inquiring minds want to know when he’s been in office, what he’s done, and what he has billed the taxpayers for during his Senate term.

Palin rumours, debunked.  They’re on #71, at last count.

Both Patterico and Jim Lindgren take on the myth of Palin’s first “gaffe.”  Turns out, she’s correct about mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  As Patterico points out, even when Palin is right, people say she’s unaware of that - a lucky guess, if you will:

Meanwhile, as [Dean] Baker [co-director of the left-leaning Center for Economic and Policy Research] noted, as of July the two lenders were being offered low market interest rates by the fed again, theoretically, at the taxpayer’s expense. But, he added, “I kind of doubt she had any sense of that.”

What with her being a woman and all.

Moving right along: FactCheck.org corrects a few smears about Palin, but is having a hard time keeping up with the stream of lies.

Now, for the sweet, sweet smell of irony: the HuffPo says that Dems are going to “frickin’ lose this thing” because of media bias.  Babe, if the media were unbiased, every election would look like Reagan’s victory in 1984.
