Bob Herbert refers to Gov. Palin only as Ms. Palin, but refers to her opponent as Sen. or Senator Biden. Watch it, Herbert: your sexism is showing. Steven Pinker does the same thing, and, ironically enough, within the same sentence:
Imagine this exchange — based on the first question that the moderator, Gwen Ifill, gave Ms. Palin and Senator Joe Biden — if it took place in casual conversation over coffee:
Is it the new policy of the NYT to unofficially strip sitting governors of their titles, or do its writers only do this to women?
David Brooks on Palin’s speech: “Somewhere in heaven Norman Rockwell is smiling.”
Jeff Jacoby balances out the ridiculous partisanship of the rest of the Boston Globe by declaring that Gov. Palin was “incredible.”
Almost 70 million people watched the debate last night, which is about 25% more than the previous record, set by Geraldine Ferraro and George Bush in 1984.
John J. Pitney, Jr. of NRO: Palin reminscent of Ronald Reagan. Seems as if that comparison has been made quite a bit lately: the governor of a state who never set out to be a career politician; criticised by the elite for not being enough like them; and patriots with visions for America’s future.
FoxNews quotes Peggy Noonan as saying that Gov. Palin is the “political equivalent of cardiac paddles.”
Jonathan Adler has more on Palin and the Supreme Court. As many bloggers have already noted, Palin criticised the Exxon-Valdez decision a few weeks ago, which puts to rest the myth that she is not familiar with other Supreme Court jurisprudence.

I remember thinking it was odd that the media kept calling Clinton “Bill’ and referred to H.W. as “Mr. Bush”.
My Republican friends thought it was because they were trying to sell him as a “regular guy” and call out H. W. Bush’s blue-blood elietism.
I thought it was probably just because they felt more comfortable because he had a more folksy, easy-going manner…but them they referred to “W” as “Mr. Bush.” all of the time too, and you didn’t have anyone more folksy and regular guy than him until Palin came along.
I think they just call her Sarah ’cause it’s easier to come up with catchy names like “Sarah six-pack” and such…what would you do with Palin? Mrs. Palin- Pabst-drinker? It just doesnt have the same ring to it.
“Sarah-cudda” would have to become “Palin-pike”
See? No good there either.

I don’t remember the media doing that with Clinton, but am somewhat relieved.
It’s understandable when the media calls Gov. Palin things like: Sarah, Sarah Barracuda, ‘Cuda, etc. What does not make sense is to pair “Ms. Palin” and “Senator XXX.” “Ms. Palin” isn’t folksy, and she has a title for her job. It seems really demeaning.
ROFL to “Palin-pike.”
I’m borrowing that.
Um….http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/10/utterly_chilling_video_of_obam.html
Wondering what your thoughts are.
I watched the video of the militant young Obammunists and see it as a sign of things to come in the Orwellian world “Big Brother” Barry’s dreams.

Allison - creepy. I’ll wrap up my “Universal Voluntary Citizenship Service” post and include that. Ugh.
Sam - absolutely. Glad you blogged about the litigation/Delaware issue, by the way.
“creepy Obama video”
I was more creeped out by the kids kneeling before and praying to a cardboard cut-out of Bush in “Jesus Camp”
Mostly because they were very little kids, and the other scenes involved a lot of hysterical crying and rolling around on the floor shaking.

Well… that and the fact that the “Jesus Camp” kids were declairing their intent to create a world-wide theocracy.
These kids are declairing their inspiration to become architects and entrepaneurs.
Its difficult for me to be scared at the idea of a black archetect or two.

I didn’t see that one, Teresa.
>>>”Well… that and the fact that the “Jesus Camp” kids were declairing their intent to create a world-wide theocracy.”
Maybe we can sic TotalTransformation on them? He’ll get some good libertarian principles into those kids in no time.
Teresa,
I forgot to thank you for linking to my post a few days ago. I enjoyed your post and the comments of your readers. Is it wierd that I enjoy it when people disagree with me?
Architects and entepenuers in Black Panther attire?

Roxeanne,
Yeah, TT seems to have little patience for people who don’t trust God to bring about the apocolypse on his own time, and get too exceited about rushing it.
Sam,
You are welcome. No, it isn’t weird to enjoy people disagreeing with you . It would be pretty boring if we all agreed.

“Architects and entepenuers in Black Panther attire”?
Actually, it is my understanding that some professional organizations think very highly of students who belonged to drill teams.
I was assured by one Jr. ROTC member I knew in High school that his planned career as an engineer was going to be helped a lot, expecially since he was in the color guard and participated in a drill team.
‘course he also referred to the Boy Scouts as “pansies” and “Garret Troopers”…so…

I really am getting so sick of the disrespectful way people are talking about Gov. Palin and how WOMEN — feminist-ideology spouting WOMEN — are not just letting it happen, but joining in! It is mind-boggling the hypocrisy and stupidity that modern day feminism has instilled in women.
Also, Teresa, I notice that whenever we bring up something negative that the MSM has said about Palin or basically any negative quality about the left, your response is always, “Well you guys do that too!” Or something of that nature. I’m not the best at phrasing things politely, but dare I say that isn’t the most mature argument? Isn’t it the equivalent of saying “well you were mean first so I’m going to be mean now”? Generally, taking the higher road and denouncing whatever the discussion happens to be about seems like a better strategy.
Plus, your references of “you guys did it first!” always seem to be extreme outliers (Jesus camp - unlikely that Bush requested their worship) being compared to a more mainstream event (the Obama camp welcoming youth/children singing songs of praise). So, it’s comparing apples to oranges.
