Happy All Saint’s Day! I would say that I made a very sexy Gov. Palin, but 1) I’m not sexy, and 2) she is, so the similarity ended with the pseudo-beehive, glasses, skirt, and red heels.
Moving onwards: Barack Obama sez:
“John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic. You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness.”
“They” should be “Ayn Rand,” so minus one for lack of subject-pronoun agreement, and the year is 1957, so minus another one for cultural ignorance. Barack Obama might associate with radical leftists, but he obviously doesn’t spend any time getting to know libertarians or conservatives.
Now, for some blog-style navel gazing, I must wonder if this election would have played out differently if Atlas had come out on its original schedule (Summer ‘08) rather than the Indefinite ‘09 release date we are given. Randians may note that Obama’s policies, the market crash, and the subsequent bailout all come straight out of her novels - and no good ever comes out of it.
Moving from economic to social liberties: Michelle Malkin reports that the Ohio government drone who snooped on Joe the Plumber’s records was ordered to do so by her supervisors. While the activities of a rogue individual are frightening in of themselves - and highlight the harms that follow government control of our private information - systematic violations of privacy are even more terrifying.
As the split between conservatives, libertarians, and progressives reveal, those who believe in economic liberty are not always the same people who believe in personal liberty. Here, we have a candidate who appears to believe in neither, but, in so doing, elucidates exactly why the Framers put the phrase “life, liberty, and property” in the Constitution: both economic and personal liberties are fundamental to a free society.
Speaking of a free society, Obama’s aunt enjoys this free society known as America, although she is here illegally. While we should never judge one person by the actions of his family members, as that undermines the premise of personal responsibility (i.e. his aunt, and his aunt alone, is responsible for her actions), this begs a few questions about the Obamessiah. One would think that, before running for President, a sane person would clean up the place and ensure that the relllies who are lauded in one’s memoir can be taken out in public. Furthermore, it is not like Obama is without the resources to help her, either financially or legally. Far from looking for a government safety net whe one’s own resources, family, and private charity fail, Barack’s actions indicate that welfare is the first line of defence.

Obama will probably help his aunt with a driver’s license and health insurance once he gets enough of our money to redistribute.

I wonder if the coverage would have been any different if it would have been a Republican doing that to a Democratic “Joe the Plumber’s” records. No, wait, I don’t wonder at all. I know we’d be hearing about it 24×7.
Sort of like how the media not only ignores the real, live ACORN fraud but puts the “Reverend” Al Sharpton on to talk about his “bipartisan” (hah!) group that is creating imaginary frauds.
Neil’s last blog post..Hopefully these get seen a lot
Sam,
True, but couldn’t he do that with his own money?!?
Neil,
Considering the wailing and gnashing of teeth over suspected terrorists, we can all agree that a GOP search of private records would yield claims of fascism, Stalinism, the end of America, etc etc.
It’s amazing. If McCain manages to win this, it will be a good thing (aside from the fact that he’s not Obama): the media will have lost, despite shamelessly jumping in the tank for Obama, and Obama will have not bought the election (with illegal funds).

I really hope they get to the bottom of that Ohio computer thing on Joe. I really believe the Ohio Democrats in charge of the government are complicit in some really illegal stuff this year with the Sec. of State runninig interference for Acorn and all. What do you think about Obama’s plan to Bankrupt the Coal Generated Electric industry as he said in his own words? I was so shocked I had to write about it and post videos. ……..steve

Steve,
I just saw that (and haven’t had the chance to blog it). Wow. Just wow.
There’s so many things wrong with it that I don’t even know where to start. I do hope that someone - a 527, the RNC, whomever - has some extra cash lying around and will air that all over West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and every other coal-mining state in this country. Just for good measure, send it along to California, which is finally reaping its anti-energy policies that it sowed in the 1970s.
Hell, here’s your handbasket. We’re all in it.
