Dating: Liberals vs. Conservatives

Following a rabbit trail of blog links yesterday, I came across this interview of six conservative bloggers via Michelle Malkin.

Immediately, I thought of this comic I have taped to my wall:

Why would anyone want to date someone from the Phylum Democrata?

[On a slightly more serious note, I can’t imagine dating a liberal/Democrat. If you don’t have any values in common, what’s the point? Plus, everyone knows liberals are sissies. Sure, their love of indie music and chuck taylors can be attractive, but their baby-killing, tax-raising, gun-control-loving tendencies are not!]

Gary Trauner, Take 2

Just noticed this at the Casper Star Tribune, Trauner tries again for House.

The gag-me-with-a-spoon money quote:

He thought about running again and talked with his family and friends, he said.

But the defining moment in his decision occurred a week or two ago after President Bush vetoed the bill to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, and a man in a grocery store called a newspaper article about it to Trauner’s attention, he said.

“He looked at me and said, ‘You know what, Gary, I’m a Republican, but don’t we deserve better in Wyoming?’” Trauner said. “As I walked around the store for the rest of the morning, or at least for doing my shopping, I thought to myself, ‘You know, I need to run again.’”

And with that heartwarming story, we’re all so happy we’re puking rainbows.

Or, are we?  I think Wyoming Senator John Barrasso hits the nail on the head regarding SCHIP,

“Congressional Democrats are hijacking the program and turning it into a massive new entitlement,” Barrasso added. “Their plan would allow families in

New York making $82,600 a year to get free insurance for children and adults. In my opinion, the hard working taxpayers of Wyoming shouldn’t be subsidizing the health insurance for a family of four in

New York making over $80,000 a year.”

And here is the difference between Wyoming Republicans and Wyoming Democrats.  For some reason, Wyoming Democrats think that the citizens of Wyoming ought to give more money to the federal government.  As if the eastern liberals haven’t screwed us over enough with the wolves situation, let’s pay for their free health care too!  Wyoming Democrats are stuck on stupid.

As if we need another reason to vote against Trauner, Scott over at Wyoming Vote Tracker posted a letter from Right to Life of Wyoming a couple days ago:

“Trauner would join his colleagues from California and New York in trying to force Wyoming residents to pay for abortions with our tax dollars,” Ertelt added. “Fortunately, Barbara Cubin has protected us for years from funding the abortion industry.”

“Barbara Cubin has backed measures that have strong support in Wyoming such as a ban on partial-birth abortions, making sure parents can be involved in the abortion decisions of their teenage daughters, and protecting pregnant women who are victims of violence,” Ertelt said.

Last I checked, Wyoming citizens were not in favor of infanticide and double homicide.  What makes Trauner think he is even remotely qualified to represent us?

There are a lot of bad Republicans

There are no good Democrats.

Ian Schwartz has O’Reilly’s interview of Ann Coulter explaining the now infamous “perfected Jews” remark.

Yet another clip exemplifying why I adore her.

Nebraska State Senator Sues God…

… Over Natural Disasters

Honestly, it’s times like this when I wonder why I’m proud to have been a Nebraskan.

Nebraska Democratic State Senator Ernie Chambers has decided to go straight to the top in an effort to stop natural disasters from befalling the world.

Chambers filed a lawsuit against God in Douglas County Court Friday afternoon, KPTM Fox 42 reported.

Click here for more from KPTM Fox 42 in Omaha.

The suit asks for a “permanent injunction ordering Defendant to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats.”

The lawsuit identifies the plaintiff as, “the duly elected and serving State Senator from the 11th Legislative District in Omaha, Nebraska.”

Chambers also cites that the, “defendant directly and proximately has caused, inter alia, fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornados, pestilential plagues…”

Chambers says he isn’t suing God because he has any kind of beef with the deity. He says the suit is to fight possible laws restricting the filing of frivolous lawsuits. Chambers tells KPTM FOX 42 News that his lawsuit is in response to bills brought forth by other state senators to try and stop lawsuits from being filed.

“The Constitution requires that the courthouse doors be open, so you cannot prohibit the filing of suits,” Chambers says. “Anyone can sue anyone they choose, even God.”

Chambers bases his ability to sue God, as, “that defendant, being omnipresent, is personally present in Douglas County.”

Yes, the same Ernie Chambers who wears cut-off sweatshirts and tennis shoes to legislative sessions.  When I was in middle school, we took a field trip to the State Capital, and who do you think was speaking?  Sen. Ernie Chambers, the filibusterer extraordinaire.  Honestly, even my 6th grade self recognized a certified blowhard.

Question: Do you think Mr. Chambers realizes the irony of protesting the restriction of frivolous lawsuits by filing a frivolous lawsuit? He is proving his opponents’ point: Some lawsuits have no legitimate purpose and do nothing but waste government money and therefore should be restricted.  (By the way, according to Wikipedia — for whatever that’s worth — Chambers is agnostic.  Doesn’t that further prove the frivolous nature of his lawsuit?  Seriously, that’s the best defense he can come up with for not restricting frivolous lawsuits?)

What can I say? He’s always been a smart one.
