Titus tirade

Senator Dina Titus showed her frustration Thursday afternoon in the Senate Finance Committee over an insignificant concession to balance the budget. The Secretary of State’s Office professionally responded to the governor’s request to adjust down their budget in light of the anticipated $137 million shortfall.

The minor Participatory Democracy Committee budget was reduced from roughly $5,000 to $2,400. Given the state is dealing with an overall budget approaching $7 billion, a $2,600 concession for a non-vital committee is insignificant.

Not to Titus. She condescendingly told the assistant to fellow Democrat Ross Miller, “Don’t surrender that easily!” Obviously it wasn’t the amount or the status of the committee that concerned her. It was the partisan principal of a Democrat giving even a millimeter to the Governor Gibbons’ request to balance the budget despite it being in everyone’s best interest.
