Some Republicans Finally Go “Partisan”

At the risk of having your eyes glaze over, the Assembly Committee on Elections, Procedures, Ethics and Constitutional Amendments might be worth watching this session for Republicans hoping to see Republicans voting like, you know, Republicans. The Republicans on this committee with the mile-long name are Chad Christensen, Ty Cobb, Heidi Gansert, Ed Goedhart and James Settlemeyer.

On Thursday the Democrats on the CEPECA surprised everyone by suddenly bringing up for a vote a new bill which would allow people to register and actually vote on the same day - an insane idea guaranteed to open the door for massive voter fraud - which, of course, is exactly what the Democrats want.

Although the bill’s introduction wasn’t expected, all five GOP members of the committee smelled a rat and voted against it as a block. All of the Democrats voted for it. As the Democrats have a majority on the committee, the bill will move forward.

Was this a “partisan” vote? Absolutely. And that’s a GOOD thing. Let’s hope we see more of such “partisanship” in the 2007 session. With all due “civility,” of course.
