Acknowledging that there hasn’t been any situation in Nevada where businesses “gouged” customers in the aftermath of an emergency, Senate Minority Leader Dina “I’m Not Happy” Titus (D-Las Vegas) nevertheless introduced legislation yesterday banning businesses from price-gouging during an emergency.
In addition to this being a waste of limited legislative time on a solution in search of a non-existent problem, the whole idea of government establishing price controls and criminal penalties over the supply-and-demand free market is nothing but typical anti-business liberalism run amok.
If Sen. Titus was really worried about price-gouging, she focus on ending the practice of using cost-inflating union-only labor to build our schools and highways. Now THAT’S price gouging!
