Richard Law of Sundance Avenue in Las Vegas sent an email to Sen. Dina Titus (D-Las Vegas) this morning voicing his opposition to a particular bill, and copied all of the senator’s colleagues. In his closing statement, Law lamented that Titus, had she been elected governor last year, might have “appointed wetbacks to the bench.”
This evoked a rather strong response from Sen. Bob Coffin (D-Las Vegas). Sen. Coffin and I haven’t agreed on a whole lot of issues over the years, but this response from the part-Hispanic legislator is a real gem…
“Richard: I have a sinking feeling you are a constituent of mine and I had hope that the intelligence quotient of our district was o the rise until your last letter arrived. It does not take many people with an IQ of 40 to drag Sundance Avenue down and our only prayer is that you have not produced many offspring.
“Since you indicate that your previous messages were ‘tongue in cheek,’ this one must have been your best attempt at ‘serious.’ Trust me when I say that the term ‘wetback’ is considered seriously by many of the residents in our district and many near your home. I suggest you keep your mouth shut, lock your keyboard and your doors, and please, wear a condom.”
You go, Bob!
