The following snippet from a Reno Gazette-Journal story this morning nicely encapsulates the argument we conservatives have been making about the budget and government spending:
“The price of gasoline could be breaking records when Charlie and Billie Zumo depart Cheyenne, Wyo., this summer for their 970-mile drive to Reno. But cost won’t matter. They’re coming. ‘We’ll have to economize someplace else,’ Billie Zumo said.”
Economize someplace else, huh? What a novel idea.
Want more roads? Economize someplace else.
Want more schools? Economize someplace else.
Want a new homeless shelter? Economize someplace else.
Want a new fire station? Economize someplace else.
Want a new convention center? Economize someplace else.
Taxpayers live within their means. They make tough choices. They set priorities. Government should do the same. What part of this is too complicated for elected officials to understand?

[…] His post is bluntly titled, ‘Economize, Stupid!’ After you enjoy it, send it to every government official you can at city, state and federal level. Thank you in advance for helping save your country when you do! […]
What a novel idea indeed. The government always expects the taxpayer to “economize” somehow, someway; but the thought never quite occurs to them.
I’d just like to thank you for taking the time to create this internet website. It has been extremely helpful
