Yesterday in California, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), one of the architects of the current illegal immigration reform bill, issued this challenge to critics: “Anyone who says we shouldn’t pass this legislation, I would ask for their proposal.” Let me give it a whack: Take McCain’s proposal and eliminate the guest-worker and any other provisions which even remotely resemble “amnesty.” There. That wasn’t so hard, was it?
