The Assembly Transportation Committee voted unanimously yesterday to approve a deal on Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons’ proposal to divert some existing tax revenues to highway construction projects rather than raise taxes for that purpose.
This is the same proposal that Republican Minority Leader Garn “Maybe” Mabey gave only “tepid” support to when first announced a week or so ago, and initially refused to introduce using one of his allotted “emergency” bills, calling it a “waste” to do so “on something that’s not going anywhere.”
The proposal that legislative genius Maybe Mabey said “wasn’t going anywhere” next goes to the full Assembly for a vote, and then on to the Senate for final approval.
Nice call, Garn. At least you’re consistent.
