Lowden Lays Down the Law on Immigration

Sue Lowden, Nevada’s new Republican Party chairwoman, is no shrinking violet. She a committed conservative who is unafraid of taking on the GOP power structure or of stepping on sacred cow toes. And in her role as party chief, she dispatched the following letter - signed by the majority of the state’s elected GOP leaders - to Nevada’s Republican congressional delegation on Wednesday…the day before Republican Sen. John Ensign changed his mind and voted against the Senate’s immigration amnesty bill.

Nevada Republican Federal Delegation:

We would like to relay our concerns over the current bill being introduced in the United States Senate.

Our State Party’s Platform, which was adopted at last year’s State Convention in Mesquite, takes the following stance on Immigration Reform:

“We welcome legal immigrants from all nations, cultures and races. We demand strict enforcement of all immigration laws by all levels of government. We demand that the federal government secure our borders. We oppose granting amnesty for illegal aliens. We do not support citizenship for children born in the United States to illegal aliens, illegal residents or foreign visitors.”

As a State Party, we do not support any form of amnesty for Illegal Immigrants. We cannot support a bill that does not enforce this doctrine. On behalf of the entire Nevada Republican Party, we respectfully request you to keep this in mind as you consider the pending Immigration Bill.

Sincerely,

Sue Lowden

When was the last time you saw a state party chairman act so aggressively and in such a coordinated fashion in defense of the very platform approved by the party’s rank-and-file activists? Yeah, I can’t remember one either.

  1. It’s a beautiful thing seeing Republicans act like Republicans. Senator Ensign should take note.

  2. Thank you, Sue. My faith in the Republicans has been renewed.

  3. […] The day you actually NEED that emergency fund.State’s rights as envisioned by the 10th Amendment. […]

  4. chuck..you removed all the things I printed about your “charity” citizen outreach…that wasn’t nice……..don’t you want people to know the real you?

  5. Southy…You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about, and I’m not going to allow MY blog as a soapbox for YOU to spread misinformation. You want to do that, do it on your OWN blog. And maybe you might consider disclosing your real identity instead of hiding behind “Southy.”
