The Word for Today is “Illegal”

The headline over the story in the Wall Street Journal this morning is exactly the sort of thing that drives so many of us nuts: “Anti-Immigration Activists Roil the Heartland.” Many of us aren’t “anti-immigration acitivsts,” we’re anti-ILLEGAL immigration activists. The distinction is significant, and those who choose not to acknowledge it aren’t helping to find a solution to the problem.

  1. I just read the article. Instead of saying “anti-immigration activists,” the headline might as well have said “anti-Latino racists.”

The story takes place in Kansas City, Missouri and concerns a woman who is a member of the local Minuteman chapter and has just been appointed to the Parks and Recreation board by the new mayor.

When the city council learned of the appointee’s connection to the Minutemen, it issued a resolution advocating her removal from the board. One of the city council members stated, “This is about racism and divisiveness — everything we are not supposed to be about.”

For Mr. Muth and many others (including myself), the key word in this debate is “illegal.” For people on the other side of this issue, the key word is “racism.” Unfortunately, a lot of people are swayed more by appeals to emotion (accusations of racism) than they are by reason (appeals to enforce the law).

  2. If the city council would have learned that the appointee had connections with La Razza, Hamas or any other group that had connections to terrorists — would they have acted in a similar way — or would that have not been politically correct?

Wake up American people! Your political correctness will get us all killed!

  3. My mom just wrote an awesome letter to Mayor Goodman about doing something to change the fact that LV is a Sanctuary City..

I’m getting ready to write him as well.

  4. I think we should all write to Mayor Oscar Goodman …. re: illegal aliens…. (his email is listed)

I think that if enough of us start to write, maybe he’ll do something about L.V. being a Sanctuary City.

    (Oscar’s response seemed so typical.)

    Dear Mayor Goodman,

I would think the Federal laws that already are on the books would support
you 100%. It appears to be it is going to be the local governments that are
going to force the Federal Government to “do their job” once and for all. If
they had been looking after the American people’s best interest, they would
have been enforcing the laws all along. There would be no problem.

It is the local government’s budget that is supporting all the “free”
medical care in the ER’s and Maternity Wards in our local hospitals. I don’t
have to remind you this free care is not extended to the citizens of Las
Vegas, who are supporting these illegal immigrants. It is no wonder citizens
are fed up and angry with the way things are currently.

Why do we allow the Immigration Attorneys and Mexico dictate to our Mayor
and City Counsel? That is the exact reason why Las Vegas is considered a
“Sanctuary City” for Illegal Aliens. They are here “illegally”. If they
want “rights” they should go back to Mexico. These illegals do not have
driver’s licenses or carry insurance on their broken down automobiles. How
is this acceptable when it is a crime for our American citizens to turn
    their nose from our laws? They break our laws with every step they take;
yet, the “demand” the same rights as our citizens.

If you listen to the news, you will hear the Hispanic names and illegals
committing the majority of the crimes here in Las Vegas. These are not
“special” people. They are criminals. They prey on our Las Vegas Citizens
causing our City Counsel to look they other way. I am thrilled to see that
you are finally doing something to turn this situation around.

You have been a strong and good leader in Las Vegas. You have earned the
right to be called a “working mayor”. This Immigration crackdown may be your
    “finest legacy”.

    Thank you,

    Mrs. W

    Illegal Immigration

    Dear Mrs. W:

This is just the beginning of a discussion about a very difficult topic.
It should be addressed “federally.” It has not been. Therefore, I am
exploring reasonable ways to reach a solution.

If you have any additional thoughts, please convey them to me.

Thank you for writing to my office,

    Oscar B. Goodman

    Comments: Dear Mayor Goodman,

I have lived in Las Vegas since 1971. As a longtime resident I was
extremely saddened to hear that Las Vegas has become a sanctuary for
    illegal immigrants.

I am so happy to learn that “you” are going to start a permit program
that will help to document the number of illegals that stand “on the
property” of Star Nursery, Home Depot, Lowe’s etc. I understand that if
they stand on public property there is nothing anyone can do; but what
    about loitering?

I see them sitting on the lawns under the property owners trees. They
walk up to cars that either enter or leave an establishment with
boldness. I can certainly attest to the fact that Ward 4 has an
    abundance of illegals.

I strongly support your efforts in taking back our country starting
with Las Vegas Nevada, my home. I would love to see Las Vegas at the
bottom of the list of being the crime capital of the United States.
Rounding up the illegal immigrants is a great start.

    Thank you,

    Mrs. W

  5. Mexico has been slipping into our country “illegally” for almost 20 years. Our Local, State and Federal Governments have turned their heads the “other” way and allowed the illegal Immigrants to “mass” in every state of our Union.

They say it is for better paying job and doing job the Americans won’t do. That is probably “partly” the truth. Mexico has been dictating to our Government for too long now making the United States responsible for caring for they people they cannot or will not. Mexico is corrupt and the leaders thrive on this corruptness. The illegal immigrants that slip into this country assume that once they are on our soil, they are entitled to “our privileges”. Not so, not so. They have started off their stay in the United States as “criminals” who are entitle to “nothing” but deportation.

The game plan of today is to attempt to intimidate the American people by their masses. They did not have the guts or stamina to disapprove their government in their country; but somehow they think they are welcome to do so in ours. Their presence is no welcomer here than it was in Mexico.

Little by little, one by one, criminal offense by criminal offense, these illegals need to be deported back to Mexico. Of course this cannot be accomplished all at one time; but little by little the task can be accomplished quite successfully. It needs to start town-by-town, then State-by-State. Ants do not fill their food storage bins all at once. They accomplish this necessary task 100% successfully one by one and step by step.

It should be easy to sift out there culprits seeing as they drive their uninsured automobiles without license or insurance. They freely stand outside local nurseries and home improvement business boldly making their presence known. What is this “hiding in the darkness”? It doesn’t take night vision to seek these illegal out. All you need to do is step outside as they are trimming the neighborhood lawns. Citizens see them everywhere. Why can’t the city officials or the laws? The illegal are now insisting the American schools speak Spanish in lieu of English. Whose country is this anyway? Round up these trouble makers and see too it they go to school in Mexico where Spanish is the formal language. Where is this the United States problem unless we make it our.

Take back our Country where laws once again “rule”. Make the illegal immigrants go back and become citizens they same way hundreds of other Hispanics have in the past. Insist our government enforces the laws established for our country. Don’t be complacent and just sit there. Stand up and be heard. Be counted as one of those who “made a difference”. I am proud to be an American.

    Thank you, Mrs. W

  6. I couldn’t understand some parts of this article , but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
