Camping Update

Since so many of you have been kind enough to inquire as to how our camping trip at Lake Tahoe is going, the following dispatch was sent out to my family back east yesterday…

“Our campsite here is right adjacent to the pool and playground…perfect location considering the ages of the kids (seven, five and almost one).

“Well, yesterday around 2 pm, a 300-pound-plus bear came lumbering out of the woods, walked right alongside the pool fence and up to the playground…at which point all the whooping and hollering by the kids (and adults) spooked him up a tree not 50 yards from our tent. And there he stayed…as every camper with a camera showed up to take pictures…for the next 5 hours.

“Eventually, everyone pretty much went back to their regular routine…they even re-opened the pool and playground…figuring the bear wouldn’t come back down until after dark and after everyone went to bed. But lo and behold, he must have gotten the munchies, because he climbed back down in front of all of us right around 7 pm and lumbered back into the woods.

“Got some GREAT video of it…I just don’t know how to post it on YouTube yet. Will let you know when I do.”

Three bear sightings in a week. And the beer still hasn’t run out! It doesn’t get any better than that on a camping trip.

  1. Sounds like and experience!! Something like that would happen to me. That is why I don’t go camping anymore. Paul.
