Immigration authorities recently raided 11 northern Nevada McDonalds restaurants and arrested 56 people for being in the United States illegally. Latinos across the state were outraged by the arrests of people who knowingly broke the law. At the risk of being called a racist, here are some random observations…
To show their outrage with the government raids, some northern Nevada Hispanic leaders called for a boycott…of the restaurant which hired the illegal workers. Just go ahead and try to figure out the logic behind that.
Hispanic leaders calling for a strike by Hispanic workers didn’t help their cause by chanting at an organizational meeting, “Huelga! Huelga! Huelga!” – which I’m told is the Spanish word for “strike.” Americans prefer their mindless protest chants be chanted in English.
One of the strike leaders also didn’t garner much sympathy for his cause when he declared, “This land belongs to God and not to the United States.”
One of the arguments in support of illegal immigration is that these folks are just here to work and aren’t hurting American citizens. But these raids were the result of a five-month investigation into identity thefts. I doubt any American citizen who has gone through the living hell of having their identity stolen by and/or for an illegal alien would say they haven’t been hurt.
The owner of the restaurants maintains he did not knowingly hire any illegals. And if the illegals used forged documents, he probably didn’t. So tell me again why we are beating up on American business owners over this issue?
Another argument in favor of illegal immigration is that the illegal workers are “doing jobs Americans won’t do.” But the fact is an awful lot of Americans of every size, shape and color “flip burgers” at McDonalds. So much for that argument.
It was reported that the raids scared and caused panic throughout the “legal and illegal” Hispanic community. No comprende. What do Hispanics living here legally have to be scared of or panic over? Seems to me only those who have broken the law have anything to be afraid of, right?
One of the illegal workers nabbed in the raids reportedly has wanted to become a legal resident for several years. However, his lawyers “advised him to wait for the next amnesty reform.” Which is one of the main reasons why amnesty opponents oppose another amnesty. It only encourages even more illegal immigration.
Following the raids, “an unusually high number of students called in sick at schools which have high Hispanic enrollments.” What’s that tell us?
Among those arrested in the raids were seven who had been arrested previously for immigration violations. Makes you wonder how many of the thirty who were captured and released in these raids will appear at THEIR hearings.
And finally, what if all the hard-working Hispanics who are here illegally - purportedly just to work and make a better life for themselves and their families - instead worked hard to make a better life for themselves and their families and their OWN country? I’m just saying.

Hopefully, American employers won’t be stuck in a gray zone after this week.
According to today’s Wall Street Journal, “A U.S. district court in San Francisco could decide as early as today whether the Social Security Administration can send out thousands of ‘no match’ letters to employers whose workers’ names don’t jibe with their Social Security numbers. The notices would be accompanied by letters from the Department of Homeland Security outlining new penalties for hiring undocumented workers.”
The Social Security Administration has been mailing these letters to employers for many years, but they never had any punitive consequences. Earlier this year, the Bush Administration decided to send an accompanying letter from Homeland Security with the Social Security letter. The Homeland Security letter would tell the employer that the employee had 90 days to resolve the discrepancy. Once the 90 passed without resolution, the employer would be required to fire the employee or be fined for non-compliance.
With this program in place, there would be no gray areas for employers. However, the program never went into effect because a judge blocked the program until the issue could be decided in federal court.
Besides labor unions, the groups opposing this program include the US Chamber of Commerce and employers and employer associations in the agriculture and construction industries.
Thanks John!
This is like the taking crack of the street! If we can end the “payoff’ we’ll stop the addiction!
Unfortunately, it seems that employers like having the uncertainty. They like the “don’t ask don’t tell” status quo. They can proclaim their opposition to illegal immigration, disregard the letters of concern that come from Social Security, and when their business is raided by ICE they can claim that they never KNOWINGLY hired illegals. Basically the Clinton response of “I didn’t do anything wrong, but I won’t do it again.” Except in this case, we know they’re going to do it again. It’s a win-win situation for them. They kept the low wage illegals on their payrolls for a certain period of time, then they avoided any consequences when it was revealed that some of their employees were illegal.
Reno’s Republican Mayor Bob Cashell seems to epitomize the attitude of being all things to all people on this issue. If you read his statements over the last few days, it can be distilled to, “I’m opposed to illegal immigration, but I’m also opposed to enforcement of the law.”
When non Mexicans are deported, there never seems to be a complaint about what can and cannot be done.
I still recall the woman married to an American citizen, with a child that was born in the United States, being sent on a plane at midnight to where she had originally come from. No problem with breaking up a family, or separating a mother from her child. But she was Russian Jew, and that is not a big bloc that stirs the politicians.
I just wonder what part of this whole issue, those PC correct people don’t understand, and i also wonder at what point the only response will be to take all property and earnings of those that have to pay for the illegals that don’t in the name of being compassionate.
Seem to recall that the amount of money spent on the war on poverty should have those in Congress asking that we give up on that war.
Seems that drugs are still in use, maybe we should call off that war.
But people breaking the law to enter this country illegally, that is different.
Maybe it is something like I tried it but never inhaled, or I didn’t have sex with that woman. We do live in some very interesting times.
Follow the money. Employers make contributions to PACs. PACS pay politicians. End o f story.
My husband was a victim of “stolen identity” a few years ago … it took a couple years to clear things up. It was a nightmare for him.
Not too long ago, I heard a story of a senior citizen being denied Medicare because her social security number was being used by dozens of illegal aliens in another state.
If our politicians were affected personally by illegal’s … they would be doing something about this problem.
If THEY had to sit in an Emergency Room for 10 to 12 hours, because illegal aliens use the E.R. as their primary doctor …
they would do something about it….
Here is a GREAT letter that was written by someone here in Las Vegas to Harry Reid ~ I found it on PoliticsOL.com
Mr. Harry Reid,
I would like to know how you justify disregarding the wishes of the majority of your constituents?
You were NOT sent to Washington to represent the citizens of another nation.
Seems to me, the people you are working so hard for need to look to the government of Mexico to fulfill their needs.
Why do they petition MY representative, why does my representative ignore me and work for the interest of foreigners and small, but very loud, ethnocentric groups?
As citizens of the United States of America the constitution grants us representation, unfortunately, for the time being, one of my two representatives is you, and you are not fulfilling your duties to your constituency, keep it up Reid, we will change that!
You have absolutely ignored our voices on the matter of illegal immigration, and continue to pander to the special interest groups and foreign citizens by pursuing amnesty legislation.
You are supposed to represent all the LEGAL citizens of the state of Nevada, and for you to simply shrug off a very large percentage, who are against legalization is irresponsible.
Las Vegas is flooded with illegal labor; the last few years have been especially bad. Our neighborhoods, schools and hospitals are feeling the strain, gangs and crime are WAY up, and you spend your time standing before cameras stating your intentions to continue the fight for amnesty… you were elected by the legal residents of Nevada; you should be fighting for us.
You people need to start working in the interest of the American people, this country is falling apart and you spend your energy on THIS, just STOP IT!
Quit spending our money like drunken sailors, quit creating new entitlement programs we can’t afford, and don’t tell me your going to give my tax dollars to foreigners and their children who have ignored our laws.
AMERICANS ARE TIRED OF BEING THE “WHIPPING BOY” FOR OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FOLLY AND BIG BUSINESSES GREED,
parading children in front of us will no longer work, you guys have gone to that tactic to many times.
NO MORE AMNESTIES! PERIOD! WHEN ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING TO GET IT!
This is taxation without representation, the corruption of government, the influence of foreign government and their citizens upon our own, greed, pursuit of power at any cost, all things our founders feared would eventually bring down the nation they created, they were truly wise and prophetic men, and our current government is full of fools and profiteers who peddle socialism, racism and class envy and to heck with the damage they cause…it is sickening,
and you sir, are an embarrassment to Nevada.
Today’s Reno Gazette-Journal reported that local religious leaders plan to hold an interfaith service next week in support of the immigrant community.
In the article, Reverend John Auer, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, was quoted as saying, “I think the whole question about fighting over national boundaries and creating walls of separation between us is probably outdated.”
Recent reports indicate that the Republican Party is heading toward a rupture between its business and social conservative wings. Now it sounds like there’s a fissure developing within its religious wing too.
The Administrative State moves a public policy that may stand in equity,
when the singular targeted American is lost in the law. This State is the
constitutionally constituted public ministry that has been conquered from
within by a political bureaucracy populated by Party Politicians whose
Machiavellian reach is imposed by the improper usage of the State
Legislature’s administrative authority.
While the Governments, State and Federal, have expansive powers to curtail
action, and some small powers to curtail speech or writing, I think neither
has any power, on any pretext, directly or indirectly to attempt foreclosure
of any line of thought. Our forefathers found the evils of free thinking
more to be endured than the evils of inquest or suppression. They gave the
status of almost absolute individual rights to the outward means of
expressing belief. I cannot believe that they left open a way for
legislation to embarrass or impede the mere intellectual processes by which
those expressions of belief are examined and formulated. This is not only
because individual thinking presents no danger to society, but because
thoughtful, bold and independent minds are essential to wise and considered
self-government. Progress generally begins in skepticism about accepted
truths. Intellectual freedom means the right to re-examine much that has
been long taken for granted. A free man must be a reasoning man, and he
must dare to doubt what a legislative or electoral majority may most
passionately assert. The danger that citizens will think wrongly is
serious, but less dangerous than atrophy from not thinking at all. Our
Constitution relies on our electorate’s complete ideological freedom to
nourish independent and responsible intelligence and preserve our democracy
from that submissiveness, timidity and herd-mindedness of the masses which
would foster a tyranny of mediocrity. The priceless heritage of our society
is the unrestricted constitutional right of each member to think as he will.
Thought control is a copyright of totalitarianism, and we have no claim to
it. It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from
falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government
from falling into error.
COMMUNICATIONS ASSN. v. DOUDS 339 U.S. 382, 443 (195O)
Here in Nevada, the entrenched political bureaucracy preys upon the
publically elected state legislature by threatening to close down
administrative programs such as public safety, health maintenance facilities
and publically controlled educational facilities by shouting to all through
a compliant media, how this will endanger the “welfare” of all Nevadans.
Then along comes the political bureaucracy’s sycophants who collectively
slop upon the public dole. These politically driven contractors clamor for
their share of the public treasury, letting the elected public officials
sitting under the State Capitol Dome know that when public pork is not
sliced up properly there will be no donations to their favorite (political
action committee) charity.
In response to this myopic public policy implemented by the political
bureaucracy, and it’s subsided sycophants, the publically elected officials
sitting comfortably in their fine leather chairs under the State Capitol
dome in Carson City swoop in the wee morning hours to impose excises upon all
who would choose to move a public service business herein within the
Silver State.
This political chicanery would be of no concern to Nevada Inhabitants, if
the political bureaucracy would abide by its constitutionally constituted
limitations, wherein the administrative state is limited to exacting the
public service businesses.
Unfortunately here in the Silver State, as elsewhere in America, the
publically regulated parochial, and governmentally controlled behavior
modification and historical redefinition centers (passed off as centers of
education or simply put, the school system) standing under the unionized
control of the communistically inspired National Education Association and
the American Teachers Association have deliberately failed to educate young
Americans to the history of the American Republic.
We face the results of this dysfunctional educational program every day in
America, wherein the political bureaucracy moves openly in contradistinction
to the law, to impose its legal reach in defiance to constitutional
limitations. Herein the Silver State, the State Legislature shows its
lack of knowledge by funding socialism, whilst the business community wilts
away under the burden if the political bureaucracy’s regulation to the point
that they are told what doors to put upon their Mom and Pop’s shop.
This over reach of the political bureaucracy relies upon a compliant,
apathetic, and a dysfunctional Citizenry, who have no idea that the State’s
political bureaucracy is over reaching a constitutionally constituted
administrative authority by taxing substantive rights in defiance to the
very laws that exist to substantiate one’s God Given Unalienable Rights to
their life, liberty and pursuit of Happiness.
The problem here within the Silver State, as elsewhere throughout the
American Republic is that many know something its terribly wrong with the
political bureaucracy, yet the singular American has no understanding as to
the nature of the administrative state’s impropriety which defeats their
ability to prosecute their singular cause to overcome said corruption with
the force of law.
The Patriot Community’s landscape is scattered with the carnage of those who
stood upon the bully pulpit to shout about the known corruption of the
political bureaucracy, yet failed to learn its nature, which greatly
diminished their cause, which landed them all upon the pyres of self
inflicted defeat.
In response to this self inflicted carnage, others within the patriot
community stand forward to denounce the founding principles of the American
Republic, which feeds the well orchestrated misinformation campaigns of
those from within the political bureaucracy whose Machiavellian
mechanizations play well upon the ears of all who have no understanding that
the American Republic was perfected under the rule of law.
The founding Fathers knew well the public ministry was malleable to
corruption. In order to protect their posterity from what they themselves
had overcome, the Founding Fathers amended the Articles of Confederation and
Perpetual in order to perfect the rule of law, by perfecting a Federal
Governance that sat in congruence to the State’s individual constitutionally
constituted republican governance.
Patrick Henry was able to secure limitations upon the federal governance,
that today no one understands. That was the perfection of the rule of law
which was the fundamental principle enacted on June 12th, 1215 under the Oak
Tree at Runningmeade.
Unfortunately since the end of the Congressional War upon America in 1865,
(The War Between the States, orchestrated by the Radical Republicans, who were
communist to the core) the political bureaucracy has slowly and systematically
imposed asocialistic (communist) agenda so transparent, that contemporary
Americans have no clue that they have the God Given Unalienable Right to stand the
force of law in the public arena which will limit the equitable reach of the
Administrative State.
Americans have a choice, suffer the insufferable, or sit down to learn that
the force of law shall overcome the inequitable public policy of a corrupted
political bureaucracy.
“Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people,
who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their
great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and
a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable,
unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind
of knowledge; I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers.”
– John Adams (Dissertation on Canon and Feudal Law, 1765)

Here’s a property owner’s bed time story. He gets grafitti all over his illegal alien occupied apartment building. This is before he realizes how stupid this really is. The city won’t paint it out because it faces the side instead of the street. So while he’s painting it out, he goes around to talk with the residents, knocks on a few doors and lets them know they should call Reno police on those rotten taggers. Their response; “Oh no senior, we cannot tell the police. We have no green cards and they might deport us.” Kind of reminds me of the pot growers in Humboldt County, California in the 1970’s. When they began raking in the dough inthe hidden farms in the hills, the Hells Angels from the SF Bay Area got wind of all the money. They just up and took over the trade. They told the pot-farmers to pound salt; what would they do, call the sheriff? So when you see all the grafitti in certain areas of town, just remember, how do you expect one set of criminals to do what’s right and turn in another? Could happen when pigs fly.
