What with all that was going on with the Conservative Leadership Conference earlier this month, I missed a story by Ed Vogel in the Las Vegas Review Journal about Assembly Minority Leader Garn “Maybe” Mabey being ousted by members of his own caucus.
Although the caucus officially denies our efforts to expose Mabey as a spineless sponge of a “leader” had any effect on their decision to throw him under the bus, we all know the truth. For the good of the state, as well as the Republican Party, Mabey needed to go - and your calls and emails to his caucus members over the past year undoubtedly had an effect in sending him packing.
And while Mabey may be a timid, soft-spoken, gentle man, he’s also bitter about being rejected by his colleagues - and toward the woman elected to replace him, Assemblywoman Heidi Gansert of Reno. “When the governor says jump, she says ‘How high,’ ” Mabey said of Gansert. “She is also tight with (Senate Majority Leader Bill) Raggio.”
Real class, Garn.
First, it’s been my limited experience with Heidi Gansert that no one pulls her strings - except maybe her kids at dessert time. But for argument’s sake, let’s say Garn’s petty little dig at her is true. At least the governor and Sen. Raggio are fellow Republicans. The master’s voice Garn answered to in the last legislative session was Democrat Speaker Barbara Buckley.
Thank goodness the “Maybe” Mabey political era is finally coming to an end. Then again, recall that Garn said maybe (of course) he’d run against Sen. Harry Reid in 2010 - which I’m sure has Harry quaking in his boots.

I clicked on the link to the Las Vegas Review-Journal article. Basically a ho-hum article, but I’m glad I read the whole thing. There were six comments at the end. Four of them were written by “Southy.”
Muth’s Truths Southy: Are you also the Southy on the Review-Journal website linked above?
Chuck: Do you have any comments regarding Southy’s comments about you and your organization on the Review-Journal website?
I am he. I support Maybe over CC GOP President Hambrick. Citizen Outreach took money as specified.
Southy, you’ve been gone a few days, so I got worried about you. I thought Chuck banished you from the website because of your comments on the Review-Journal website. It’s good to see that you just took a few days off.
I see that you got no response from Chuck.
Maybe the IRS will have better luck.
I look forward to my 5% “report” fee on the $700+K.
