Biden’s War Against the War

At the Democrat debate in Las Vegas this week, Joe Biden got accolades for this little line: “Who among us is going to be able to, on day one, step in and end the war?”

In Biden’s opinion, that would be him. The very notion and sheer naiveté of such a statement should immediately disqualify Biden and any other candidate for president who claims they can end this war on day one. Or day two. Or even on day 943. And here’s why.

The ONLY thing Biden or any other potential president can do is stop the United States from fighting the war. Neither Biden nor any other president can step in and stop the crazies on the other side from fighting. Just because Biden pulls our troops out of Iraq doesn’t mean the war will be over. Indeed, Johnny Jihadi will keep right on attacking U.S. interests and allies whether G.I. Joe is in Iraq or not.

Biden can’t end this war. He can only retreat and stop America from fighting it. Which means, plainly and simply, defeat. Period. End of story.

It’s highly irresponsible for Joe Biden to claim he can “end the war” on Day One of his never-to-be administration unless he has a plan to get the fundamentalist Islamic nutjobs to lay down their weapons and IEDs and promise to never attack us again. And if Biden has such a plan - which he doesn’t - a responsible press should demand that he reveal it.

Don’t hold your breath waiting.
