I recently wrote a column reluctantly defending the right of the religious nutjobs of the gay-hating Westboro “Baptist” “Church” to stage protests at military funerals. These are the same cretins who maintain the GodHatesFags.com website.
Anyway, rather than doing injury to the Constitution and undermining our right to free speech, I suggested in my column, with tongue planted firmly in cheek (I think), that we should “pass a law that says if a friend or relative of a slain American soldier, personally or by proxy, kicks the living (expletive) out of a member of the Westboro Baptist Church who is protesting at said soldier’s funeral, the infraction will be considered a simple misdemeanor subject to a maximum fine of one dollar.”
What I hadn’t anticipated was that anyone from Westboro possessed the ability to read, let alone write a response. Alas, it turns out I was mistaken. Margie Phelps - who I believe is the daughter of the “church’s” loony gay-hating leader, Fred Phelps - sent me a rather irate email this beautiful Sunday morning, calling me a “sniveling snot nosed little punk.”
Actually, considering the source, I take that as a compliment. But in the interest of being fair and balanced when it comes to exposing the mentally unbalanced, here is the text of Mad Margie’s email in its entirety:
Chuck, please allow a few thoughts on your squally commentary, set out below.
It’s just perfect in Doomed-america to have a pervert write a disingenuous column for the delusional, suggesting violence against those who tell you your sins are going to hell - even as she prates about the First Amendment. That is the face of Doomed-america.
I know this will be a very jarring note to you, but you should be aware of some facts. (You probably already know these facts, and don’t care. Just like you don’t care what the Bible actually says.)
Fact #1: This isn’t about our hate; it’s about God’s hate. Human hate - like yours - is a base, unworthy emotion. Like all the sins of this doomed nation, it will earn you the wrath of God - along with your fornication, adultery, idolatry, violence and greed.
God’s hate, on the other hand, is by definition perfect. It is His divine design, with the power to execute upon it, to send most of mankind to hell. He chose an elect remnant from the foundations of the world, who He loves exclusively. The rest He hates. The rest He will punish for their sins by eternal damnation. Those He loves He foreknew, he predestinated to be conformed to the image of His son, and then He calls, justifies and glorifies them. (See Romans 8:29-30; Romans is the sixth book in the New Testament.) Everyone else He foreordained to punishment. That’s His hate, and it’s as real as the oxygen you’re breathing - whether you approve, acknowledge, or appreciate — or not. You arrogant-assed-cursed-americans are not in charge; God is.
Fact #2: Matthew Shepard didn’t die because he was “gay.” (There’s nothing gay about a short-lived miserable sickly feces-eater fool!) The evidence is in. You perverts and media mutts hate to truck in the evidence - but it’s still in. The lead investigator reported that his being “gay” had nothing to do with his death. It was a drug deal gone bad; and it is the inevitable result of a child left to his devices - like his selfish parents did him - who ends up on a night out trolling in bars for drugs and fag sex. What, dumbass, do you think will happen when you live that way? Only the freaks of the United States of Sodom would make that foolish child a hero, and pay his selfish mother $15,000-a-pop to let her derail more children. Insane.
Fact #3: Inviting people to beat up someone for words is a crime. Funny that. Like any of the “justice” system of Doomed-america cares. So really that’s a parenthetical irrelevancy. Here’s the fact that really matters: The God of Glory has our backs, He alone opens doors of utterance which no man can shut; and we will carry these words to this nation - indeed this world - until He decides it’s time to stop. Not some sniveling snot nosed little punk like you - whose most noble moment is inviting people to punch someone whose words they don’t like.
You’re a disgrace to anything democratic; but then that makes you fit right in to this cursed land. Meanwhile, your duty stands constant forever. It’s the same duty that belongs to all mankind. Get a Bible; read it; and obey it. The Judge is even at the door. Your big smart mouth will be stopped when you feel the wrath of the Lamb pouring out all over you, and when you meet Him face-to-face.

When nutcases like this take the time to learn to write in order to respond to one of your comments, you know you’ve hit a nerve.
Did you know that Westboro Baptist Church’s Fred Phelps and Al Gore are old pals? There’s a famous picture of the two of them, with their wives, all with broad smiles as Fred hands Al a big campaign contribution. (Now THAT’s what I call “an inconvenient truth.”)
Great article. All these people have to do is open their mouth and they prove what crazies they are. In this case, these are dangerous crazies.
