In a recent email to supporters, Matt McCullough of the Porter for Congress re-election campaign for Nevada Rep. Jon Porter wrote: “Our district is on the frontlines in the fight for control of Congress, and we simply can not allow (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi to have another liberal vote in the House of Representatives.”
This is the same Jon Porter who in recent weeks voted with Nancy Pelosi and the liberal Democrats to override the president’s veto of the liberal expansion of the liberal SCHIP program, who regularly votes with Nancy Pelosi and the liberal Democrats against cutting earmarks from budget bills, and who voted to override the president’s veto of the pork-stuffed Labor/Health/Education bill - who now is asking people to re-elect him so that Nancy Pelosi won’t have another liberal vote in Congress.
The obvious question is: Who would know the difference?

If the truth were to prevail the Republican Party would conitinue to be the Majority Parrty of our government.
Look at facts: Subtract the number of BLUE DOG Senators from the ranks of the Democrats, name the Secular Progressive Liberals as a seperate Party, and then Independents. Of course the Socialists and Communistic leaners would correctly belong in the SP grouping.
Now, the Majority is clealy seen!
True enough, who would know the difference?
Porter has gone from 97% voting with the president’s Administration to 74%. Why? If he was a true blue R, his way would be straight and true. But, perhaps with the Rs now being the minority vote in Porter’s congressional district, his votes are leaning Left on purpose. This move to the Left may be viewed cynically as pure political opportunism, hence his moniker ‘career politician’.
As for the Labor/Health/Education bill, Jon Ensign inserted 5 earmarks for a total give- away of taxpayer money of $1.2 million! Nevada Cancer Institute seems to be the largest benificiary of all earmarks for Nevada.
….BTW, Nevada Congressman voted against the Labor/Health/Education bill but had inserted $700,000 in three earmarks.
The private Whittermore Peterson Institute for Neuor Immune Disease received $200,000. The president of this institure is Harvey’s family member(?), Annette who along with Chase Whittermore donated $12,600 to Heller’s 2006 campaign for congress. Peggy Sullivan is the intitute’s Secretary, and Bradley Sullivan donated $1,000 to Heller’s congressional campaign.
Money in equals money out. The taxpayer gets fleeced so members of congress can ‘pay back’ their sponsors. In spades! $13,600 donated turned into a $200,000 check from America’s taxpayers.
Look how much government largess has gone to the Whittemore’s ‘out in the desert’ Coyote Springs development! Reid and Ensign refused to answer a reporter’s questions on campaign contributions received and earmarks granted.
Never re-elect an incumbent.
sorry, I was writing (above) about Heller voting against the bill with his $700,000 earmarks.
